The state of Israel was legally created out of the dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire at the end of World War I. The area was desolate, desert and swamp, with some small towns and a few inhabitants, many of them nomads. The inhabitants considered themselves mostly Syrian. The Balfour Declaration issued by the British, who were given the mandate over the area by the League of Nations. Jews have lived in the country since Biblical times. The Arabs from the surrounding areas were lured to "Palestine" by the industry and prosperity that the Jews brought to the region. Envy, hatred and religious fanaticism turned the Arabs against the Jews. In 1947, under pressure, the British resigned their mandate. The same year, the United Nations mandated partioning of the territory. The Jews, though disappointed, accepted the partition. The Arabs rejected it and launched war against Israel. The armies of five Arab countries invaded. Following the exhortations of the invaders, the Arab residents got out of the way hoping to return after victory was attained. They could then reclaim their property and that of the Jews, all of whom would have been killed or would have fled. Israel won. That and that alone is the source of the Palastinian "refugees". Had the Arabs accepted the UN partition plan, there would now have been a state of "Palestine" for the last 58 years. The might have attained a similar level of prosperity, advancement and development as Israel. 50% of Israel's population now includes refugees from Morocco, Algeria, Iraq and Yemen. All were accepted by Israel with open arms and have become successful members of their society. The Palestinians refused to integrate these refugees into their population and instead confined them to "refugee camps". The ones there are now fourth generation and through no fault of Israel.

The question really revolves around whether Israel has the right to exist. I think that they do have the right. Palestinians and allied Arab/Muslim nations do not think so, and so a territorial war exists by the Palestinians to wipe out Israel.
Israel has made countless numbers of good-faith efforts to settle peacefully, cede parts of their territory only to repaid in terrorist acts by the Palestinians. Therefore the Israelis have simply been in the war on terror longer than the U.S.
If the Palestinians only want a homeland, then perhaps their allies in the neighboring countries should cede some of THEIR territory to the Palestinians. The answer here will show the true motivations of their attacks on Israel.

There's a long history to this mess and the US should never have gotten involved, but they did because Israel was a strategically sound position to support during the cold war. Originally this was a British problem.
I have no problem with the formation of Israel as a state, but to simply expell the Palestinians was wrong on every level. The neighboring Arab states are sovereign and under no obligation to take the Palestinians in. The Palestinians were the ones who really got shafted in all of this... and what means did they have to defend themselves against what was done to them? Not saying that terrorism is the way to go (not at all), but what would you do if you were in their shoes and nobody listened to you and you have no status or recognition as a sovereign nation?

Why is Palestine allowed to get away with what they do to the Israelis? The question goes both ways. Israel Tried to make peace. They withdrew from Gaza and the Palestinians went in and destroyed all of the houses, why? They could have lived in them. Then they elect Hamas for their government and they immediately announce they Will not deal with Israel and start bombing and shooting and threatening again. What would you have the Israeli do? Sorry but the Palestinian people need to stop the Hamas if they really want peace.

They deserve it. I HATE Jews but I support Israel on this. why:
1) Arabs are evil and care only for Islam.
2) Palestine support terrorists.
3) Palestine is a terrorist populated country.
4) Arabs are just alaways oversmart while they are 100% foolish.
5) The seeds of terrorism is in the Arab countries.
6) It is full of muslims causing terrorism.

Palestine voted in Hamas... Hamas is a terrorist organization. Hamas, as a government, is demanding that hundreds of suspected terrorists be released in exchange for information on Gilad Shalit, the soldier that Hamas ABDUCTED from Israel. These are the ways of terrorist organizations!!! So Hamas is a terrorist organization, abducting soldiers, shooting rockets, and plauging Israel for decades, calling for an end to an Israeli state. Israel has no countries friendly to it in the region, and has recently tried to negotiate plans for a Palestinean state. But all plans fell through once the Fatah Party lost to Hamas. If anybody had wanted peace, they would have voted for Fatah. But they didn't. They want the destruction of Israel, so they voted for Hamas.

It must be for the same reason Arab/Muslim murderers get away with bombing buses, crowded marketplaces and restaurants. The same peaceful, Allah-fearing thugs who delight in beheading innocent people. When we think of Arabs, that's who we think of, even though there might be many of them who aren't terrorists.
When Arabs/Muslims clean up their own garbage, the rest of the world might show a bit more sympathy for the ones who are wronged by others. Now suppose you think about it, Pal.

The abduction of an Israeli soldier by the terrorist-labelled Palestinian government is actually an act of war. Israel has the right to invade all of Palestine if they wanted to but has limited its action.
