Over 1000's of years, the "average" lifespan of people has increased. Just within the past couple of centuries people's lifespan has increased by more than 20+ years. In the future, as in the past, with the coming of better technology, environmental conditions, more and better medicines and easier lifestyles, lifespan of people will increase further. However, "people" have a way of culling the herd every now and then by acts of war, famine, disease and acts of delibrate non-intervention. That means, as Darwin stated, only the strong (most adaptable) survive, also lengthening the lifespan.
