I think most people would agree that TV adverts are far louder than the TV programmes, and are so to grab our attention, but by being so annoyingly loud, surely it's making us use the remote to turn the sound down.

Rather than getting our attention by raising the volume,   isn't it having the opposite desired effect, and making us turn the volume down to a level much lower than we had while watching a programme? If so, the TV bods should stop using this tactic - right?

C'mon man, give us hard of hearing people a break!
LOUDER the better I say, and it has the added bonus of being some of the best TV on the box.

People like you would ban snoring given half a chance.

Coz if there's something I enjoy better than a good fart it's a good neighbor wall thumping snore - why it's the only time I can drown out the little lady.

So if you are not happy you know where the off button is!

I know I find them loud, and annoying. Part of it is the music they put with the ads....if you're looking at me spending my money on it, you need to have music and visuals that don't make me turn them down or walk away.

The TV bods are trying to attract young people in the hopes they'll talk older people into buying a product. No offense, but I'm not going to listen to a kid's preference on a major purchase when it's my money that's being spent.

You're absolutely right and it was one of the reasons I have stopped watching TV (a load of nonsense programs had a lot to do with it too.)
Also, have you noticed at the movies, the action/fighting/thrilling part is SOOOOOOO loud, I've actually asked for the volume to be turned down, but it wasn't of course. Apparently the volume level is set by the film distributors.

I have typed an answer in several times and it just dissappeared.
Waz up with that? Guess I should try again.

Yea they r loud, however there r TVs out there that can automatically control the volume during commercial. Bottom line is no commercials, no Tv.

But to turn down the volume the advert must have grabbed our attention so it has worked.

TV are dead crafty, they turn the sound up so that it sinks into your brain. Most adverts are aimed at differnt types of people and are shown at different times throughout the day. They also turn them up incase you slip out into the kitchen to make tea or coffee.I quite agree that it should be stopped.

They are absolutely too loud... I constantly turn the volume up (during the show), and then down (during commercials). Gone through two remotes in the past six months already...

Yes, they are too loud and annoying. We mute our commercials or turn the channel. Now with a DVR we dont even have to watch those annoying things.
