The world population can be made to match resources by increasing the number of resources. Better recycling, newer methods of reclamation, asteroid mining, chemical sustitution for meager resources, water recycling, salt water seperation, etc. We can provide for everyone and beyond if we just use our imaginations and minds.
However, your question shows that you want to get rid of people humanely, just like the Nazis and the founder of Planned Parenthood. When poeple decide to get rid of people humanely, the brown skinned people are the ones who suffer, along with Jews, Gypsies and homosexuals.

by changing the current focus which is on consumerism because consumerism requires the constant consumption of resources
