I'm writing a fantasy book about shape-shifters and telepaths and my older brother is helping me edit it.

A number of high school seniors and even a few junior high students, have succeeded in getting books published. It all depends on how good your story is, and if you can connect with the right publisher. There is a book called 'Writer's Market' that lists something like 3,000 publishers and tells what each specializes in, and what their requirements are. That might help you direct your queries towards the right publisher.

Sure, but be aware that the publishing market is a little ambivalent about putting out the work of younger folks. They might see you as a Christopher Paolini (who put out his novel, "Eragon," when he was 19) or a Kaavya Viswanathan (whose "How Opal Mehta Got Kissed" turned out to be largely plagiarized, though she was considered a young phenom. If the writing's good, though, youth can be an asset, something remarkable they can add into the mix when marketing your work.
