i plan on going on vacation for about 20 days. i have 14 plants. I have bought some automatic dripping thingies that are supposed to slowly give the plants the humidity they need to survive until i get back home. do those stuff really work? It has a ceramic tip and a plastic lid that closes on a 1 1/2 litre bottle of water. Do you have any other ideas on how can my plants survive?

You can buy the kind of water tank that goes in your loft for about a tenner. Connect the drip feed system to that, ensure adequate drainage and they should be ok. You can buy siphon tubing from an aquarium shop to connect it all together. You'll have to bodge a connection somehow with plumbing supplies and plumbing tape. Or you can use the big tank to drip water into the bottles to top them up.
I don't think that 1 1/2 l water per plant is enough for 2 weeks if we get a heatwave. How much water do you usually give thwm in that time?

I don't think 1.5 ltr of water is enough for 20 days more like a 10 -15 ltr tank is required.Try a piece of hose pipe connected to the tank with fine holes punctured where necessary to drip feed the plants. If you can not get a tank a large plastic bucket will do.

I have been told that one way to keep your plants watered while you are away it to place ice cubes in the pots, they will release the water slowly, but not sure if that will keep them going for 20 days. May be use your automatic dripping thingies (genius name if you ask me) and ice cubes? Hope your plants make it.....

You could ask a neighbour to mind them for you. Or you could re-locate your plants to a friend's place while you're away. The dripper thingy's sound ok, and could work well if the plants are indoors.
