ive just come back from the states where i drove in las vegas and los angeles, if you take out a fully comprehensive insurance cover with the car hire company, dollar are really cheap, all you will need when you collect the car are your drivers license and passport.

Yes, insurance information would be good. And a bit of prayer wouldn't hurt either. Since we drive on the opposite side of the road then you are use to you should pay a bit more attention to driving than if you were at home. Also our signs are not the same as used in the international road ways so they also something to get use to as well. Expect rude, harsh ignorant drivers on the road ways and you'll be fine!
