Although I follow the news worldwide, this bit of law going into effect in England/UK is something I've not heard about. Exactly what is it, and why in the world would someone in their 50's find it hard to get a decent job??
I will be 49 this October. Exactly 2 weeks ago, I was hired to take the place of a lady named Miss Edith, who has been in the position for the past 28 years! They didn't want "young", or those with small children because sometimes the job entails staying over. Miss Edith, by the way, is 71 years young! She got this position when she was in her 40's, like me. And I plan on staying at LEAST as long as she did! It has taken me years to find the job that's perfect for me...and that I'm perfect FOR....
AGE shouldn't be a factor....because those who are older, have that much more experience in both the positions, and problem solving, not to mention knowledge and mind-set to work hard!
So my answer to you would be....yes, most emphatically! Now don't worry so much over "age"....because as a rule, the more experience you have...the better qualified you are for the job, and THAT experience comes WITH AGE! :)

If i were to be the one, I would rather start my internet business at that age. With the experience and knowledge that i've accumulated till the age of 50s. I'm quite capable of managing a simple and home base business and yet with stable and long term income.
Go for an internet business that does not required you to have fancy skills such as html and web desing skills. This will help you to save a lot of time and you can start to make money as soon as possible. This is what it make sense in internet business. That internet business place should also offer other affiliate programmes to enable you to make money along the way.
Dr. Why, i found all of these here:

Aren't they allowed now to get a job? Everyone should have the right to work. We have folks in their 80's still working here in the US
