This is just a rumor and has no weight to it at all. The National energy conservation agency is issue a recommendation that manufactures stop making top loading machines. This is the equivalent of making catalytic converters mandatory on cars, yes the new ones are built with them but the old vehicles are exempt. To make a long story short in the future you may not be able to purchase a top load machine but the older machines will not be "outlawed"

No, but front loaders are much better and use less water and clean much better. I bought a front loader a few months ago , sits on pedistals (dryer too) and I absolutely LOVE it... I paid 3 grand for the set now that is insane! But I am very happy with the set and I would never go back to a top loader..

I sure hope not! I have back troubles and having a top loader helps. Why on Earth would they want to ban them anyway? They last far longer then front loaders.

Would be a good idea since they use less water and soap but I doubt it, we couldn't even deal with metric.
