American, collectively, has never been so scared. At least not since WWII, but then there was a clear and visible enemy to fight. Now we are fumbling in the dark and so "we" jump at imagined noises in the night and strike out wildly at bogey men of our own making. Don't despair. Despite temporary governmental abrogations of our rights and legally established civil liberties, the United States Constitution still stands. Freedom is a treasure. Keep your voice out there.
By the way, been there, done that, got detained for two hours when coming back to the states because I have "unusual travel patterns." Good grief. I'm a middle-aged widow (victim of terrorism) who lives overseas and was going to a dental appointment! How scary is that?

Patriot Act - - - Great stuff. The problem today is too much tecnology. Someone could be sneezing in some field in China and we'd know about it 14 seconds later. This is nuts. If World War II were being faught by todays standards. We'd all be walking around saying " Zeig Heil " and be eating a lot more fish and rice ( Ah SO ). Sometimes it's better not to know so much. Censoring to a point is, and can be much more beneficial to the nation. There is a reason why the Gov't doesn't want us to know too many things, and national security is one of them.

I want you to remember what you are saying if a bomber ever strikes America again. You will probably be the first person screaming "Why isn't the President doing something?". It is easy to grouse about your freedoms, but name one person who has actually been hurt by anyhting in the Patriot act?
As to Hitler, the first law he passed was to take all the guns away from the citizens. Look it up and beware the man who wants your guns.

What I always wonder is, since spying is illegal why aren't people being prosecuted for these illegal acts. The executive branch yells unpatriotic, the far right makes a stink and no one tries to stop these illegal acts. We need some people in congress with a back bone that will fight. We also have to let these courageous politicians know we the people will be behind them if they do, we can't let the far right hold politicians hostage anymore.

In America we have allowed ourselves to be manipulated by fear. Our government uses this to distract us from their agenda and to control us. The media thrives on this. Start watching the news with this in mind. FDR was right. "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself". Question, read, think.
