You're right. Knockout tournament is like this and the best doesn't always win the cup. Only 64 matches are played between 32 countries - only 2 matches per country. Leagues are the place where the best always wins the title. On average, teams are to play about 35-40 matches in about 10 gruelling months - a real test of endurance and consistency. And so why Maradona is the Greatest. He was equally good at club level football.

It is a real final.
Why ? because ZZ deserves it and deserves to win.
He is not French or Argentinian or Brazilian. He is one of those great players who made the game go forward and a reason why we all love football. He belongs to everybody who loves football.
My hero is Cruyff. I have seen images of him when I was a kid and could never forget these. I think he should have won a world cup.
So for the sake of the game I think it is the real final and should Zidane be brilliant and end up his career with a world cup victory, this is no cheat but the celebration of a great man for football far beyond any shortsighted nationality issue.

I guess Germans think at their semi-final as the real final, but show goes on. France deserve this match after winning the starting favorite, Brazil.
