O.k, World Superbikes is obviosly 'King' Carl Foggarty.

(And still think his Isle of Man TT Lap record should stand coz it was set towards the end of a race and was only beeten years later by Moody by doing only 1 lap on new / fresh tyers)

Currently The GP rider is Rossi (even changing from honda to a (then crappy) Yamahato to prove it wasnt the bike) but.....
What about Micky Doohan? Rainey? Schwartz?
Imagine all the above lined up for a race!!!

So, Can Rossi win the title again from the current position?
(Amazing if he can!) and who'd you think is the best?

Dont Forget Mick Doohan's infuence and guidance over Rossi while he (rossi) was @ honda. (Think Rossi / Doohan Split although ive seen Rossi do some amazing things onna bike!!)

If it helps, and it may not, Rossi has mastered 125, 250 and 500 two-strokes, as well as 990 four-strokes. But of course Doohan won three World Superbike races, as well as all those 500cc GPs. But perhaps you could argue that Doohan had tougher opposition in his day. Only two of Rossi’s opponents have won the top class title (Crivillé and Roberts).

"Of all time" you say? That goes back a long way before your references. Congratulations though on one of the largest questions I have seen to date. Keep adding to it. You'll have a book in a week.

Others have mentioned Joey Dunlop and Giacomo Agostini. I would go with them as contenders. But Mike Hailwood, John Surtees, Phil Read and Jim Redman are also in the frame. the best road racer I ever saw in action was Geoff Duke.

Giacomo Agostini. Agostini, who was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999, is considered one of the greatest Grand Prix riders of all time. In 17 years he won a record 15 Grand Prix World Championship titles and 122 Grand Prix victories.

It would be between Rossi and Mick Doohan for second behind Agostini. Doohan has won five world championships while Rossi has won seven including 5 in a row. I wouldn't tip against him to win his sixth. You never bet against champions.

Is Ross Brawn heading Mercedes GP? if so, Herr Schumacher stands an mind-blowing possibility of a minimum of competing. each and every time those 2 party you look to have F1 magic. human beings see the checkered flag yet overlook to be sure the military of workers that make up an F1 crew. Brawn is a mastermind of having the right human beings to artwork for him, and including a adorned and committed motive force like the most effective motive force in F1 heritage ought to bode properly for a identify shot, both motive force and producer. even although the machines of in the present day are a procedures extra, shall I say, extra forgiving of drivers, there remains a level even as all of that technologies is incomprehensible and the motive force's potential, tenacity, and brass balls make extra of a large difference than a $2 million automobile. I see Dani Pedrosa as Rossi's in ordinary words actual challenger. Rossi is on the point the position Schumi became even as he became prevailing nigh each and everything, and Rossi has the right crew round him. besides, Rossi has that certain air of mystery about him, and his self belief and personality make him a lot less likely to make blunders. each and each and every of the placed up-race interviews look to submit to witness to the riders being wound too tightly, yet Rossi smiles, laughs, and surely enjoys both his recreation and his prestige as its reigning champion. it is going to take a enormous attempt for yet another rider to conquer him, and on the grounds that the parity in technologies has strangled many of the significant potential from Honda and Ducati, in ordinary words Pedrosa feels like a probable contender. obviously, if it rains more suitable than once, we will be dealt with to the light-weight Pedrosa hydroplaning off of the song. Schumi will project yet ought to no longer win the identify, regardless of the indisputable fact that the constructor's identify must be close. Rossi = 2-Wheeled God.

I think Barry Sheene was probably the best, but Rossi is proving to be a fantastic rider. I still think he can win this year.

I'm with cremedelacre... on this one; how can anyone possibly overlook the accomplishments of Giacomo Agostini! I suspect many of the answers are based on emotion rather than looking at hard facts.

Although not Moto GP my favourite is Joey Dunlop - such a fearless rider and gentleman as well - he is sorely missed here in Ireland

How can you ever doubt Rossi's ability? The only way he won't make it this year is if the bike lets him down. I can't believe you blasphemed in this way.......!
