Imagine you are standing on a perfectly round and spherical planet. Take a ball and use a marker draw a dot on the ball and draw a circle around the dot. If you are standing on that dot, you would see everything on the planet inside the circle. The circumference of the circle is the horizon. So actually, you can see the horizon curved but it is curved AROUND you.

tell you what. Go on a drive and go to the coast line in California. Look at the sunset and take carefull notice in what you are looking at. Yes, the horizon is curved. What you are seeing is not refracting light. The world is round and the horizon is the farthest point of veiw that the human eye can see. the horizon is roughly about 1,000 miles away from you and all you can see is the curve. But, seriously, go to the cost. it's an awesome view. I was born and raised in cali.

In the previous question you asked about the curvature of earth.

In this question you are asking about horizon.

In the previous answer I wrote that earth being curved we are able to see only certain distance.

The locus of that distance will form a circle of radius with our eye as center and the distance as radius. If we see the horizon from an elevated place then the radius of circle of vision will increase or we we will see a large horizon.

Yes you can se the curvature of the earth. if it were a matter of refraction then the colors would be distorted. refraction is what is responsible for the colors in a sunset.
