Highly unlikely. I do believe that they will continue to increase in popularity. I bought two the other day, just because I spend so much time in my car and you can only listen to NPR for so many hours straight.
Printed books have the convenience of being analog - humans can use them directly without the aid of technology. In addition to this advantage, languages take thousands of years to become obsolete. Believe it or not, there are still small villages out there that speak Aramaic natively, and even Bactrian. On the other hand, when was that last time you saw someone pull out an 8-track or LP? Technology formats come and go, but humans still need to communicate despite that trend, and therefore the written word will never die. While CDs are more promising than tapes ever were, they aren't permanent.

For the same reason that electronic media will never replace newspapers - you can carry electronic media - but you need to carry the Laptop or the computer to play it on whether you want to carry it to the Bathroom or on a journey by train.
Further if you lost the book - you would lose the book - you would also lose all the notations and underlinings you made in the book - and though you would lose the CD ROM - your reflections would not be on it and so you would not lose them - and the converse also applies.

Certainly books on CD rom will be suitable for a percentage of the population, particularly those who can't get their buttocks unglued from the computer screen, but they can never replace paper. There are too many intellectually-inclined individuals who derive tremendous pleasure from their own libraries, and of course, who may pride themselves on being perceived as highly intelligent due to the vast numbers of leatherbound volumes they have amassed.

Negative, the average person read when they are less busy, u know like sitting on the bus, train station, or just relaxing at home. so they need the paper book for that. CD-ROm books are good for reserches, not plesure. cos if i'm on the computer, I'll rather be on the internet.
