Halting deforestation would be a very important component in the fight against global warming. However, I disagree that it is the only way. The human race as a whole needs to stop burning fossil fuels and using energy as though the supply was limitless. The burning of fossil fuels at a rate where the earth cannot absorb or dissipate is the main cause of global warming. Go green!

deforestation is not the only cause of global warming, also releasing of high quantity of carbon to the atmosphere is a major factor. there shall be regulations governing these causes and force all countries to comply with.

Hemp, that which all the thing mentioned is made out of, is not illegal. at least it is not illegal to purchase products made from hemp. Weed, on the other hand, is a product coming from a plant of the same family with a high THC content. Hemp and marijuana come from two different plants of the same family. Fully legalizing the hemp plant does not mean weed has to be legalized. I actually support legalizing both, hemp because various items can be made of it and marijuana due to it's medical benefits and possible taxation opportunities, but they are two different things.

Disagree. In global terms, the number of trees alive are no longer a match to the significant and damaging impact of pollution increases in the air. With this threshold crossed, the only way to reduce global warming is to stop polluting.

No I don't agree, Global warming has been happening since the Ice Age and there is nothing we can do to stop it. However there is a lot we can do to slow the rate down and stop throwing lumps of metal into space and burning up the ozone layer when we bring them back would be a good place to start!

No I do not.
Deforestation rapes the planet but the change of use of the land is the main problem, if trees were replanted and a planning strategy put in place to ensure the sustainable use of rain forest for future generations to protect and enjoy and still be able to make a living making wooden furniture and tools that would be a dream come true.
A more worrying question is why when it rains at Wimbledon do they put covers over to protect the grass but with the ice caps melting scientists fail to come up with ideas on how to preserve the ice sheets.
Protecting fragile eco systems is what is needed, standing around laughing about how major cities are going to flood while getting paid to take pointless samples does no good at all.

Stopping deforestation will help, but it is not enough by itself. We need to change the way we are living on a very large scale. De-centralizing our resources is a good place to start.

I wish that the rainforests could be preserved. I work for the education dept. of a simulation tropical rainforest, and I once did a work placement with a charity that protects temperate rainforests in Canada.
BUT, it is more complicated than just putting a fence around them and telling the Brazilians that they can't cut them down any more. The rainforest is a natural resource for many countries. That is what they have to make money from. If somebody told a 'more important' country that they could not exploit their natural resources, there would be hell to pay!
The wood can be sold, then afterwards the bare land can be farmed (though not for long as the soil becomes infertile soon after deforestation so the farmers must move on elsewhere - vicious circle), then the ground can be mined for precious minerals.
If we want to preserve the rainforest, then we shall have to financially support all the people who would otherwise have made their living from timber/agriculture/mining. There are some charities that simply buy up the land, preventing the countries' natives from using it at all - this may seem noble, but it simply takes advantage of the struggling economies in these countries, and does nothing to help the people who have always lived there.

I think global warming will stop itself by changing the warm water currents in the nothern hemisphere. Did you know. The most part of carbon dioxide is taken out of the environment by Oceans and not by trees? That is why a previous warm period that was high in carbon dioxide yielded a chalk layer known as the Cretaceous period.
