A difficult (or perhaps not so difficult if I think logically) question for someone my age to answer. I was born just after WW2 ended, my father a glider pilot and Jewish to boot was shot down over Arnhem (survived fortunately) so of course I was brought up to believe they're all evil. In retrospect that's strange because he was helped back to UK through the German underground network - no not the metro, silly! - so in theory if it weren't for them I wouldn't be here. Later in his career he was posted to Munchengladbach (?sp) and had a very happy 3 years there. I've personally not met many Germans and the few I have, have been civil and polite. I don't hold a grudge against Germans, from what I understand the majority didn't want a war any more than we did. As for stereotypes, if all we can do nowadays is point a finger for at them for grabbing the holiday sun loungers first then we don't have much to complain about do we?

Ok so stereotypically I thought that the Germans were over weight and were rude, expediently to Americans. However, when I moved to Germany I found that I was WAY off. Germans are some of the most beautiful people that I have met, and in many ways just like Americans. Some hate the US some like the US, hell Americans are the same way. I love the food, but miss Mexican food. So for me the Stereotypical German has changed to me. I still see their dislike of the young American soldiers, but if you went to a club there you too would agree.
MUCH CLOWN LOVE.

I think Germans are efficient, and hard working. They've discovered a whole lot of crap, they're an economic power despite losing the war and being divided. I for one admire Germans. I'm not German, but I would probably say Germany is the greatest country on earth, and the Germans the best people.

May come across as a little forward however are generally very intellectual individuals who are all up for a bit of fun on the town. Like most Europeans, you need to know them before getting tipsy with them, unlike us NEE's. The stereotype is tall, blond haired , blue eyed, beer loving, techno dancing, Tories. But like any stereotype, it's just a cartoon of a nationality. Like Scots - kilts, castles and whiskey. Like English - snobs, football and ale. Like Americans - w****rs. lol. etc etc etc.

Nice people who have tried for decades to forget about the past, having rebuilt there nation to a better understanding and a power to be worthy off.
Just look at the world cup, could England have achieved the same? Sorry dont think so!!! we'd still be building the stadiums knowing us and using contractors from another country rather than our own to build em too!
In Germany they use their own people to build such things, they are a race of people who are proud to say "We are German, and we are proud to be German!" good luck to em I hold no grudge and I'm part Jew!

Stereotypes?
Well, there's being efficient, blond, tall and having no sense of humour.
Then there's the whole moustached, monocle wearing person with a pointy helmet thing etc.
I think they basically come from the wars and people making a joke out of their enemy.

A lot of models seem to be German and their football team is good. I want to visit Germany one day because I've heard it is very nice.
I don't have any stereotypes about them though!
