I need to get a list of the foods that can help making serotonin.

I am already aware of the 5-htp is the precurser of the serotonin... so what I want to know is the food or vitamins that we can easily find and eat from out everyday lives.

I think someone said, the green salads and some fruits can help make me serotonin. Is it true?

What else do you recommend?

Thank you.

I know that dairy products such as cheese, yogurt, and milk increase levels of serotonin. Foods that are high in starch and high in carbohydrates also produce more serotonin. These foods include pasta, cereal, bread, wheat, balrey. Meats are a great source for making serotonin, especially turkey. Turkey as you may already know contains an amino acid called tryptophan which is directly converted to 5HTP which ultimatley produces serotonin. Not only do foods produce serotonin, but natural sunlight does too, even more perhaps than all the foods combined. One study found that the longer a person was exposed to sunlight, the higher the level of serotonin in their bloodsteam was. This explains why people are usually happier in the summer especially when going to the beach, and it explains why people tend to get depressed in winter; its not that their eating different in winter, its mostly because they are spending less time outdoors in the sun and receving lower U
V because of the weaker sun angle. Humans are made to be outdoors in the sun. Its alrite to use sunscreen, but try to go without it for atleast 30 mintues a day to get the full benefit from it and inrease your serotonin amounts. Try this: On a nice sunny day, make a turkey sandwhich, eat it outside, and when your done, take a walk to and ice cream parlor and eat that outside in the sun as well, and i guarantee your serotonin will be so high you'll feel like your on cloud 9!

Pasta and bread are good. Chocolate and bananas as well.

Why do u NEED to make serotonin? Where about? In your body? Then maybe you should take medicine which increases the amount of serotonin available for your body to use.

These are antidpressants. A particularly good type are SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors). Do you have any symptoms of depression : constant fatigue; feelings of hopelessness; thoughts of death/suicide; crying all the time..?

You should see your doctor to make sure.
