When other people are selfish and arrogant we usually notice. Does anybody realize when they are doing these things and how it affects other people?

Having a disability, it is easy at times for me to become mired in self-pity. When I have caught myself (and most recently), is a few weeks ago when I came to the realization that "I have it good for someone with a lot of bad". I verbalized this to my mother and she acted touched. I have been (and am) going through a bad snag again and I think she appreciated the moment when I could break out of myself a little. Unfortunately she is the only person in my life and has to deal with all of my disability issues.

Selfishness is a product of biology and natural selection. If we, as a species, were not selfish we would not have evolved to dominate the planet. That is why, when we see unselfish acts, we marvel at them and celebrate the event.

Society and religious teachings have tried to change this biological behavior. But unselfishness is truely rare. Selfishness is the reason capitalism works. It is predicated upon this very fact: People will do what is in their own best interest.

But please don't think that makes us all horrible people. Most of us have learned that being selfish 100% of the time is not in our own self interest. So we all try to balance it out.

All the time. Human beings are fundamentally selfish - look at yahoo answers that's all about being selfish. However the important thing for me is recognising when it is harmful and doing something positive about it.

Speaking for myself I never did notice. But, recently I have looked at my actions and behavior and squirm in shame and embarrassment at how selfish and arrogant I have been. Believe me, I am trying to change.

to do not ignore that it really is selfish, you should first do not ignore that suicide - for suicidal human beings - is ordinary. it really is not demanding. it really is not a not ordinary selection. that is a rattling ordinary selection to make. They do it as a replace of having help, or getting off their butts. although, suicidal human beings can not help being selfish so honestly. even although we are able to assert they are selfish, it really is not unavoidably an offensive or undesirable element to assert about suicidal human beings. it really is not a blight on their nature. that is a tragic actuality, and we wish they weren't in that mind-set. they merely can not help it. although makes them turn to suicide is what has made them selfish adequate to consider suicide. it really is not their fault. i think very deeply for absolutely everyone who exhibits themselves depressed, or with suicidal ideas. My buddy, at 17, killed herself.. hung herself, from a tree, in a graveyard. Now, even as I admit that she changed into selfish (she has no clue what she did to her dad and mom, me, and others) she couldn't help being selfish. She changed into hurting. I actually were suicidal in the previous. Very at present, I had a scare.. it really is rattling selfish of me. I advise, even if anybody is extra acceptable off without me - as I merely believe they are - who the heck may shelter my cat awesome? So, i exploit each and every of the flexibility i am going to muster even as i think like this, and that i keep on. I get away. I shake up my ordinary - I do some thing different, to marvel my equipment, and get my ideas off of the tips. that is available. yet human beings do not do this. they merely take the straightforward way out. For suicidal human beings, suicide is ordinary. human beings continually attempt to end human beings from commiting suicide by using asserting 'You dont opt to dedicate suicide because imagine of how a lot you'll damage anybody round you! They love you and could bypass over you!' - and that is the only WORST element to assert to a suicidal human being.. because they don't believe human beings love them, or will bypass over them, or will word they are lengthy previous. So asserting that merely rubs that concept into their face, and could maximum probably urge them in route of it. it really is an ignorant element to assert to a suicidal human being.

I try to be selfish 100% of the time.

Even when I'm contributing to the happiness of someone else, I'm doing it due to / for selfishness.
