the celebs are ******* mean and only say things like that to make them look like they care. it is stupid how they lived, they could just put some of those millions towards making poverty history. good question.

Yeah, like others have said, they're hypocrites. They think that "I'll visit this poor place" once, or a few times, and then pat themselves on the back for doing "something good".
Chances are they never had to suffer through life (the way the poor people have to do everyday), so they can't really connect with them. Sure, it's great they're visiting, but it's probably just for publicity.
I don't really want to bring religious debate into this, but Jesus spoke against doing stuff like this, cause if you're doing it so that the whole world knows how "good" you are cause you spent a day trying to help them out, then it's not really good for you overall.
On the other hand, if they were trying to do it secretly (and do it consistently, not once and then just forget about it), and then gets seen by the media (without having called them or anything that is), and then remain humble about it even when they're being praised, then any praise they get is deserved.
And you know, a lot of celebrities have a "standard" of living. You'll never catch them shopping at Walmart, or buying food from a regular grocery store. Nope, they'll buy those 30k suits, and probably spend enough money on a single meal that if they had donated it instead, could've fed a small family for a few weeks.

Do you know this is my most hated pet hate in the world.
You see the likes on big celebs that go to these places say how bad it is and say they need like millions to get this and that. then why don't they get together and put the money in.
I don't support any artist or celeb on the reason is public make them rich in the first place then still get stupid amount of money for playing in a film or football or a song they have done, then they still want the public help, then in the papers you see them buy a bag that cost over £1000 that they use just one time. same with these rappers who got money that spend ££££ on clothes that they were just the one time then throw them away and get new, Also why do the rich celebs get FREE gifts of expensive clothes and cars ext why cant they say send the money or item to be sold for the poor.
I also wish they did not put fund raiser on TV near Christmas too to put pressure on people to donate money all because it is Christmas when the average Jo need to support they own,

We all want somebody to blame, its never anybodys fault, IT IS NOT UP TO THE FAMOUS TO END ALL WORLD POVERTY our GOVERMENTS HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGTH MONEY TO END THIS PROBLEM they choose not to because every rich country wants to be top dog of the world basicaly, NO GOVERMENT WANTS TO LOSE MONEY ON PROBLEMS THAT ARE NOT THERE OWN, ITS A SAD FACT and this is the sad fact that needs to be addressed, you cant expect the famous alone to save the world! ITS EVERYBODYS PROBLEM, and the finger needs to be pointed first of in the direction of our goverments not the famous, its just too easy to blame the famous, ITS OUR GOVERMENTS THAT HAVE THIS POWER NOT THE FAMOUS, the famous that help do donate one hell of a chunk of there own money to the cause there trying to support! LOOK IT UP!these celebrities don't get paid for the charity work they do you know! people in general society are more likely to take notice of the problem in poorer countries if a famous celeb is putting the problem across on the there t.v. screens, fact! sad but true but that's what the majority of society is like. Think about it these celebs really cant win because there damned if they do and there damned if they don't. I know if i was a famous celeb, id be in a better position than i am now to bring the problem in poorer countries to light, like the rest i wouldn't want paying for doing so and id donate more money than i could of done as a none celeb, like some of these famous celebs if i could try and make a change in poorer countries, i would and if i had a nice home to return to after then i would take what i have in my life a little less for granted, as I'm sure these celebrities do when they return to there's. At the end of the day they don't have to do anything, they choose to, a celeb can try but its going to take more than them to sort the problems in poorer countries. Take a long hard look a lot closer to home because we all know the word hypocrisy and youl find the biggist hypocrites are people like you who practicaly never, if ever! donate even there last penny or give even an hour of your time, you just sit there on your lazy non celeb high class middle class lower class whatever! lard **** and piss and moan about celebs giving there time to people less fortunate because they chose to, without even looking up the details. Now THAT my dear is "Hypocrisy". x

It doesn't take an odorologist to tell you that a pile of crap stinks.
To be frank, what problem is it of theirs? is there some invisible obgligation that the rich HAVE to give money to the poor? The wold isn't communist. There are people who have, and those who have not.
I'd be nice if more wealthier people gave generously, but it's by no means should be any sort of obligation.

When they come on tv wanting us ordinary folk to dig deep into our pockets I often wonder how much they all really give financially. Some do i know but then they are fortunate enough to have a very lucrative profession. For most people it's the widows mite all over again!!

Some celebirties work hard all their lives to become what they are. Some become rich and they feel a need to help people who are much less fortunate. They have the money to travel to those poor countries and they have money to help those people to build schools, clinics, and to have clean water, and they help those people and work with them to help them build a better life.
I myself am on a fixed income, below poverty level, but compared to poor nations I live well.

Self preservation and personality masks.
They do think its horrible, i'm sure they do, but they mostly don't care very much. Sympathy and heart felt care from celebrities is just a publicity stunt.
There are a few who really try and make a difference, but most just want the publicity, they're trash

Good question.
On the pro-celeb side I think it's important for celebrities to use their column inches and popularity to bring attention to poverty and injustice. And even if they gave up their entire lifestyle, it wouldn't solve a problem caused (mainly) by greed and corruption at the highest level.
On the anti-celeb side - I HATE being lectured by spoilt millionaires... like Bono (who i can't take seriously with his anti-poverty rants since i heard the story about how he once flew his favourite hat out to him first class...)
