if you're going from the usa, i recomend korean air, safe and reliable. in viet nam thier is viet nam airlines, pretty reliable and very cheap[ sai gon to nha trang $50, sai gon to ha noi &100us]. if you're looking to go site seenig ,get a "lonley planet guide book" they list almost every thing. out of sai gon i preffer going on an overnight tour into the mekong region over a day tour to cuu chi[ but many people on this site like the cuu chi tunnels]... in nhe trang take the "city tour"[ budda, po nagar cham tower and hon chom] it will take you 1 afternoon , its cheap and you'll like it. if you can hook up with a motor bike driver you feel comfortable with they usually can take you to "off the beaten path" places[such as ba ho & suoi tien ,near nha trang they are 2 jungle streams and swimming holes] . out of hoi an / da nang see marble mt . and my son... both cheap tours unless you go privately. hue has the old impeirial city and river tours. out of ha noi most people recommend ha long bay, i preffer the pick pagoda[ chua hong] and an over night to mai chau vally. if you like , and have a few extra days , take the over night train to sapa. all these places i mentioned are well known in their areas and you can get a motor bike driver/guide to take you around or you get book a formal tour at any [ and there are many] tour office or your hotel desk. getting around m, most tourests take an open tickek on a tour bus;[ sinh cafe, tm brethers].. but you got to try an overnight train [sleeping car] at least once amd plane can get you where your going FAST[ sai gon to ha noi 2 hr flight + 1hr bus], hotels , i like the "back pack" areas in all the cities[ its where the action is] the mini hotels there are sufficiant, cheap, clean and safe. insaigon i like the dong phuong/ oriental on de tham street. in nha tran.. the dong phuong on nguyen thien thuat street[ always] in ha noi stay in the "old town"[ pho cuu] around nguyen ngoc luong street you can find many places to stay.. always check out the room before you commit... ps check out other resolved questions and answersin this catagory on "answers" advice , be adventurous , but causious, be polite but not foolish... when you dont want to buy something say ,"no" and only once.. but the greatest thing viet nam has to offer is its people.. meet them whenever, wherever you can.
there are a few high end dept. stores/ malls in sai gon check out "daimonds" near the main post office. but you should go to benh thanh & cho lon markets for the expierience.. and wherever you go get up early 1-2 mornings[ 4-5 am] viet nam comes alive at dawn! it will give you a "whole new outlook on the day" you can find great seafood all over viet nam.. easpecially on the coastal towns.. in nha trang get some one to take you to "lac canh"

Check out the Chu Chi Tunnels. These are the tunnels the vietnamese built during Nam. They lived in them and used them to move around town. They're amazing! For more visit the link below or so a search on google. The tunnels go three stories into the ground.

I was in vietnam five years ago and long this part of the visit.
