The space shuttle has to dock with the International Space Station- its roughly 250 miles up in orbit, which gives it an orbital time of roughly 4 times a day. Depending on the lanuch profile, the shuttle may take a day or two to catch up,,,,so call it,,,uh,,,4 times 11= 44, and figure 2 days to catch up,,,,call that 3 orbits,,,,3 orbits to come home,,,,total of around 50 orbits, give or take a bit

It takes about 90 minutes to make one orbit, so it makes 16 orbits a day. I think this mission is scheduled for about 11 days, so that would be about 176 orbits.

I dunno the total distance that they travel around the Earth, but, they were going around 17000 milesperhour the whole time up. I'd say about 900 orbits, but, I really do not know.
