Why does Bono continue to pretend to care about impoverished people around the world yet is loaded????????????

I find it somewhat sickening to see celebs touting causes that they're unwilling to really give their all.

Get people like you who have MILLIONS to donate a couple of their millions,
Also when you have these CHARITY bashes
with LAVISH FOOD, CHAMPAGNE , CAVIAR etc etc,
(probably a lot of this put in garbage afterwards)
Stop wasting money and food which could be given to those who need it.
Do what we the poor people do to raise money,
HAVE a PIE AND PEA SUPPER
COSTING ABOUT £2,50p per head,
Not £2500.00p per head,
All I see is people like you flaunting your money to poor people like my self,
So thank you, No thanks
The £50:00p per week I get to live on
will not enable me to your LUXURIOUS LIFESTYLE.
But a good PIE & PEA SUPPER
THAT IS SOMETHING SPECIAL
Any money left over Is used to help others
so I will DO my little bit in my own way .

Hey you...give it a rest.....do you know what the word PHILANTHROPIST means? There are many "rich" people who give their all....sometimes just exposing a cause by bringing it to the masses is all it takes to get the populace informed and passionate about the ills of the world and what we can do to lend a hand. If anything, some celebs use their fame and recognition for noble purposes...they're already rich and famous....what else do you think they will gain? YOU have no idea how much Bono or any other celebrity donates....yes, they make millions...but they may also be giving millions...How many politicians have made a stand for the genocide in DARFUR? Those are the ones you should be sickened by....our elected officials who (many, not all) always have a personal agenda.....votes!

I don't think any of us can claim to care more than Bono does and I think anything celebs can do to promote good causes can't be bad, although its easier to focus on helping others when you are financially sound yourself.
It just shows the flaws in society when we rely on people famous for singing or acting to morally guide us through our lives. The trouble with the world is we are more likely to take notice of Bono than Nelson Mandela.
In short I think we are all hypocrites to some degree and can do more, I suppose at least he's doing something.

Give the poor lad a break. At least least he's trying to do something positive. If you were as famous as Bono, would you just do nothing? Or let me guess, you'd do it in a "quiet" way? He's using his celebrity to bring a worthwhile cause to everyone's attention. If in so doing he sells a few more records or comes across as a bit of a dick now and again, who cares. You can hardly say he's doing it for the money or to make himself more famous.

Save your angst for the non celebs like Paris Hilton and all the rubbish that are on our tvs day in day out giving our kids the impression that its OK to do f**k all with your life so long as you get in the papers or on the telly.

And just in case Bono's reading this, I think his band's pump and that Simple Minds were way better and should have humped U2 in the "battle of the bands" back in the 80s when they used to fight week in week out for who was getting front page on my little sister's teeny bop magazine.

He does not pretend. He gives his time, effort and influence and in doing so probably has far more effect on the problems than all his money could do. Bono and Bob Geldorf do a tremendous amount of good.

If you feel sickened by this then you must surely support people dying from poverty and disease!

In my opinion I think people like bono,danny glover and angelina jolie really do give a damn about the poor and hungry around the world,they just have a lot of money and got the press to spread there message a little easy than the average person does.

Don't be too hard on the man he's just trying to stay in the limelight to sell some records cos lets face it the bands music has really gone downhill over the few years.So if everybody went out and bought u2 cd's then maybe this omnipotent pretensious big mouth will keep quiet for a while

We get a lot of this in the UK with stars appearing on charity appeals just before a new book/song/gameshow is released. I do think Bono is a different type though, one who uses his celebrity and his own money to help others. He is just doing what we all ought to do. If you gave $5 dollars to a starving orphan and then walked away you would help, certainly. If you gave $5 and then told all your friend and relatives to do the same....

i refuse to back any charity that bono backs, the guy is a self serving fool in a second rate band that is only big because he is mates with nelson mandela.

What makes me laugh is when i suggested that people stop buying u2 albums and donating the money saved to various anti poverty charities instead in bono's question, my answer got deleted by the yahoo team for being "offensive"

Bono and Michael Moore are bed buddies when it comes to this. They both love to pretend to care about the poor and impovershed people of the world and country. They both fail to see that we and the world see right through their act.
