Rat zapper. Bam. there gone! Also I suggest pest control. They come in and do a thorough job removing all mice and preventing them from entering again.

D-Con, most of the time you don't even need to open it, they'll tear into the package.

Glue traps, they'll squeal for a few days until they die. They can not get off the glue, sometimes you'll get lucky and get two on the same trap.

Traps. Generic wire mouse traps, with cheap processed cheese, the cheese dries in a matter of days turning hard like plastic. This makes it harder for the mouse to take the cheese, they'll nibble on it releasing the trap and whamo, dead mouse ! The traps usually cost $1 for 2.

I do not recommend live traps, where it just closes around the mouse. Someone has to let the mouse go, and they can take off and find the way back in your house again.

What ever trap you go with, get at least 10 to 20 traps, the more you set down the more that will get caught.

For me the wire traps work the best, and I have the most success. One thing to learn about wire traps, it's usually best to practice setting them, to where you barely set the trap, you'll know what I'm talking about when you set one. That little metal rod doesn't have to be all the way against the bait rest.

Boy you've gotten some pretty bad answers! First you need to inspect your home very carefully and yes plug all holes you find, but not with steel wool. This is a common misconception. You need to use the wool made of copper. The problem is that copper rusts so you will also need to plaster the holes also. Now that you've sealed off all entry means that the pests have you need to get rid of the ones already inside. There is no easy way. The most effective is with poison, but you will have to deal with the odor associated with a dead mouse, and usually the odor will lead you to the body. Also make certain not to leave any food out, and make sure you dispose of your garbage properly and daily. Dint leave anything that you think may attract them. Also inspect your doors mice are made of cartilage so they can easily squeeze their way in through the bottom of your doors. Check your doors and if necessary install rubber guards which they sell at any home depot and are fairly easy to install.

We live in California In the High Desert and because it has been an unusually wet winter it seems that the field mice population has exploded this year . We also live accross a field so it's really bad. The thing that we did was put out traps and have some cats that are really great mouse catchers. that seems to be working for the moment. We have inside and outside cats so they get them before and while they are in the house. I hope that helps you LOL V.

Go to the farm supply store and pick up a product called "just one bite" put a block in all the area's where you see mouse poop. But make sure your pets cannot get to it!!

After about a week or 2 when you do not see then anymore, stuff ALL openings with steel wool. mice cannot chew through it. Put iit even in the smallest of holes, like around pipes, around your dryer hose, etc..

Sorry but steel wool does to work..I still have it, the same ones I put in 9 years ago!

Besides the obvious that every one is going to say( get a cat) I plugged all open holes with steel wool ,under sinks behind oven etc. They hate it and can't chew thro it, no more problems. Good Luck
