We have just had a new kitchen fitted and the fitter has accidentally scuffed the black gloss laminate worktop in one place by using a green scouring pad to clean something off it. It isn't as deep as a scratch but is quite noticeable when the light falls on it. Are there any products that are suitable to restore the gloss shine to the worktop? Can laminate floor polish such as Hagesan 'Wash & Shine' or 'Laminate Gloss Coat' be used on a laminate kitchen worktop? Any other suggestions?! Thanks for any help!

The polish will make the scratched area less noticible. Did you make the fitter aware of the problem? I seems to me that they owe it to you to fix or replace the damaged top. Would you buy a new automobile and accept the same type of damage in the paint?

At the very least, the fitter is likely to offer you some money back in lieu of having to foot the bill for a replacement.

Good luck with your situation.

Have you got any offcuts of worktop left, if so i would suggest that you scuff it and try your products on this first to prevent any further damage to your fitted worktop.

Regardless of what you plan on using, I'd suggest you make sure it is food-safe. Not all products become safe for contact with food after they dry.
