I'm starting to lose faith in humanity when people will sue at the drop of a hat for things we would never have looked twice at in previous decades.

What can be done to stop a society with dollar signs for eyes, before they sue themselves into extinction?

Because some people are so greedy and lazy. They would rather scam someone than earn an honest buck.
What can be done, I'm not sure, but I think the judges have the final say in what the people actually get awarded, so it's up to them to change it.

I too am getting exhausted with all of the mindless 'suing' that has been going on the last couple of years. It amazes me what people thing they can try and get away with (the person filing the suite in the first place.) Well lets think about this though not only does the party filing get air time (because I'm sure the local news if not the national news would more and likely pick up on it...because of its outrageousness) but they also have the potential to get a large sum of money from the defendent.

Everyone is honestly losing their minds...thats just it we are in the day and age, unfourtunatly, that everything is being taken to extremes were not the laid back Americans we once were...oh no now we are attacking eachother for petty mindless acusations and or property (be it a pack of gum or whatever other sensless item they can think of.)

How to stop this...well someone has to fill out the paper work to send all of that stuff through the system. I say let that person be the judge (obviously not just someone off the street but rather someone who can judge whether or not this is really a case that needs to be attended to.) It kind of bothers me to think of how much crap is clogging up our court systems because of these sort of people. Don't they think that a judge has something better to rule over than (and I'm only using this as an example because I used it earlier...and by God I hope this has never went through the court system lol) who stole who's pack of gum and they want $2,000.00 for it because of emotional distress...what, they were worried what was going to happen to it?

I really don't think it would be all that hard to deter just tell the lawyers to start charging more for petty disputes...I'm sure they won't mind. I hope all in all that people will realize there is more to life than making money and making other peoples' lives miserable. Someday things will be different...just my opinion.

Because that's how America is. Don't work hard to earn a living, make someone else pay for it. Some people blame it on the lawyers ("Larry Parker got me..."), but it's just human nature - the something for nothing mentality. Think of how many people play the lottery (a free ride to nowheresville - look at the odds of winning. You have a better chance of seeing a real UFO than winning). Get used to it, frivolous lawsuits are here to stay (think of that woman who put a human finger in her food and tried to sue a restaurant. Luckily she got caught). Frivolous lawsuits are the American way. :)

Yes, there are people only `sue for $$$$' but there are also a lot of good people around making other people life pleasant and happy.

I personally believe what u give out will come back to you. It is known as the law of Cause and Effect.

Those who `sue for $$$$' will being sued sooner or later.

Those who sincerely wished other well will be blessed many times.

Mixed only with good people with integrity and positive.

The idea of getting rich quick is appealing to many people. With evil corrupt lawyers law suits now have little credibility. The only way to fix this is legislation.

1. Tort Reform
2. Penalties for fraudulent law suits
3. Personal Injury attorneys must pay when they lose.
4. Set % standards of how much can be awarded

Nobody wants to be accountable for anything. I blame the parents of these slobs that lack character. It is easy money like the schoe above me said, but it's also easier to pass the buck. This country is going in the shitter..

Arrrggghhhh, those people are so pathetic and are looking for a quick buck without having to work for it. And to make it worse, lawyers thrive on those a**holes to make a lot of money out of those lawsuits.

such an easy way to make a few bucks!

I've even had a few students say things like, "I'll file a law suit."

I know what they have on their minds. Money, money, money. An easy way for someone else's money, money, money....
