They do but some of the youth and even adults (i am not trying to stereotype cuz i have lived in the US myself for 11 years), only concern themselves with MTV, game boys, drugs, and alcohol more than with other cultures or interesting things that will make them more curious about the world itself. Again, this is only generalizing it....if anything, I usually got bad and tasteless jokes about Germany from Americans.....sad, huh?

There are more than just 2 types of Indians, there are the Indians that live in America nick named because of Columbus mistake and calling what now is America, India. Also there are east Indians which are people who actually live in India and west Indians people who reside in the Caribbean. The word Indian is used so loosely that it is pegged to almost any indigenous or aboriginal people. I'm not sure of what column you spoke about before but are you sure the word Indian was being used for east Indian people?

Yes, many young Americans can't find India on a map. They are oblivious to the rest of the world. Indians are cool. I've worked with a lot of Indian Engineers. What does suck is that foreigners have access to exceletrated college courses. I knew one Indian guy that worked full time and got a masters in 4 years. 4 years!

Unfortunately, our public schools do not teach much Geography. Though, from a young age I had quite an appreciation for India and its culture. An appreciation that continues to this day.

Amazingly, they don't teach anything but american history and geography in most american schools. Most americans can't even name the capitals of canada and mexico, even though they are right next door, and they get insulted if we don't know something about them, like who was their 25th president, who cares.
