The book starts out with the murder of one of the curators. He was found in the same position as DaVinci's "Vitruvian Man". An anagram containing the Fibonacci numbers is found written in black light ink next to the body. As the story progresses, another anagram is found next to DaVinci's "Mona Lisa". Continuing on through the book, the meaning of DaVinci's painting of "The Last Supper" is discussed. Many aspects of DaVinci's works are used throughout the book.
Leonardo DaVinci is also known to write backwards. It was a way for him to keep his thoughts and plans from outsiders.
Much of the book's plot makes use of DaVinci's paintings and the coded anagrams the museum curator left, the title of the book, The DaVinci Code is quite accurate.
One of the plot lines deals with the "Sacred Feminine".

Slightly confusing way to pose the question, but yes, people exist who specialise in decoding the symbols of all sorts of things, and achieving a greater degree of historical or mystical understanding. So, the short andwer is yes, symbologists exist - but as Will says, they;re not usually called symbologists. As to the wider question of "Is the Da Vinci Code true?" - no, it's not supposed to be a great revelation or factual treatise on biblical or mystical things. Da Vinci existed. Opus Dei exists. The Knights Templar existed (and still exist today as a degree in Freemasonry). It's possible, though unlikely, that the man known as Jesus had a wife and child. But the only truth the Da Vinci Code aspires to is the one it has achieved spectacularly - the truth of weaving a great, fast-moving adventure story together in a way that makes a whole hell of a lot of money for Dan Brown, novelist. Good luck to him, he's hit on a great formula for success, but he has NOT hit on any particularly deep or meaningful world-changing truth, and nor does he claim to have.

The writer of the book "Da Vinci Code" Dan Brown used this name basically beacuse it had many things to do with Leornado Da Vinci and secondly because it is believed that Da vinci had hidden messages in his works(or masterpieces) these messages have something to do with a brotherhood called Priori Di Sion of which he was a member.
I may say that the title of the book is justified

Well alot of the book has to do with Leonardo Da Vinci so why not make that part of the name of the book. I believe most of the codes in the book were designed by Da Vinci himself as well.

I believe that there is a lot more truth in the Da Vinci code than any religious institution is going to admit. After all, it stands to under mind all they have been teaching for centuries. Symbologists, I believe so--this isn't the only place they have been mentioned.

It's not only related, Dan Brown used the symbols and philosophy hidden in Davinci's maserpieces to thread the mainstream of the novel and his point of view.

It is a rather badly written fictional detective story that builds on the name of Da Vinci.
