A good balanced diet with lots of liquids. Be careful about really strong tasting foods like onions or broccoli. They can change the taste of the milk enough that a picky baby may not nurse. Gas producing foods-beans, cabbage, etc can produce gas in the baby. Many babies will not be bothered by anything you eat but go slow till you learn about this new little person, If there is a strong family history of food allergies some think that avoiding that food will make ot less likely that baby will develop an allergy to it. Keep taking your prenatal vitamins. No amount of alcohol is considered safe-it definitely shows up in breast milk in small amounts. Hope this helps. Breastfeeding is such a special bonding as well as the best by far for baby and you. Because it takes calories to make milk ,breastfeeding women often get rid of "baby fat" more easily, assuming you don' t start to pig out-a nice bonus!

no matter what u eat ur milk will be good as ur body will take nutrients from ur own stores if ur not eating the right things. ur body will put babys needs first. so as long as u have a healthy varied diet ull be fine, what ever u ate during pregnancy was good enuff to help bub survive so its no different now. eat fruit and veg and dairy and meat and fish and chicken and ull be fine, unless ur not eating anything at all there is little u can do to wreck ur milk! The main thing is LOTS of water as much as u can keep a bottle by u at all times and drink and drink. sounds like ur a great mum just by asking what u can do to help ur baby get the most of breast feeding, ur already doing the best u can. good luck and keep up the great work!

There is no such thing. As long as the mother hasn't had a truly horrendous diet for several years, her milk will be of high quality. It matters *not at all* what she eats on a day-to-day basis or even from week to week. The baby will be fine...

The problem is that the *mother* will suffer if she doesn't eat well. A basic well-balanced diet is all she needs. There are no special foods that should be eaten (or avoided). The amount of anything doesn't matter, either--unless the baby shows signs of being allergic to something the mother is eating.

The best diet/foods for breast feeding is a well balanced selection. Protien, Fruit, Veggies........But remember - more calories are needed and continue vitamin supplements. Water / Fluids is also very important.

yogurt, cottage cheese, brocolli, cereal bars....try a little Nestle Quick low sugar chocolate drink mix. Just a little, until he gets used to the idea of milk in a cup then cut back. Most Drs/ dentists will agree flavored milk is better than no milk. Oh and try a straw, one of those fun curly ones. My kids LOVE them!

your breastmilk will be a nearly perfect fod source no matter what you eat, but maintaining a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein is best for both you and baby. you might want to avoid foods with lots of garlic, onion, chocolate or "gassy" foods like cabbage or broccoli. these can cause your milk to taste funny to your baby or can give them gas or indegestion-like symptoms.

A balanced meal - vegetables, fruits, and meats. chicken soup, Indian/Pakistani curry (look for the one with fenegreek which has been known to increase milk supply) and avocado help boost milk supply for some women. Definitely plenty of water too.

A good well balanced diet. REMEMBER you have to each twice as much. An extra 1500 calories a day!
