Follow these steps:
If you have a long list of favorites, you can make them a little more organized by putting them in alphabetical order. This can make it just a little bit easier to find the one you are looking for.

To place your Favorites in alphabetical order, begin by opening the Favorites menu and selecting Organize Favorites. Right-click any URL and click Sort By Name in the pop-up menu. Your Favorites should now be in alphabetical order.

I got this information at this URL:

Furthermore, don't overlook your own research. Yahoo! answers is a great concept, but don't forget Google. Still one of your best friends on the internet. I found the URL by typing the following keywords into Google:

internet explorer favorites organize help alphabetical

Much has been made about the difficulty in finding information on the internet but I find that an intelligent selection of keywords will yield results. I found this with only one search (sometimes you'll need to eliminate or add keywords).

Hope it works!

Yahoo does that for you automaticly.
If Yahoo isn't your home page, then I don't know.

ALL of mine are in alphabetical order.
Yahoo does that for you as a favor for using THEM for your home page.

Maybe your home page is set from another company. Try Yahoo.
