what does the course entail and how long is it to do.

can tell you much about course but just to reiterate what the last person said get into the schools anyway you can you will gain much more experience in 6 months than on any paper based course then when you do the course you have some idea of what they are talking about especially with special needs and low ability kids ive been a ta for 4 years had no experience and no courses have now been accepted at a new school doing specific special learning needs once in schools you get to go on courses work the system

I would suggest volunteering in a school for a morning or afternoon a week (more if you can). See if you enjoy the work and would want to pursue it as a job. Then find out about the courses open in your area - adult education centres and local colleges normally run them (depending on the level you go for it takes 1 or 2 years).

it depends which level you want to do im assuming youd want to do the level 2 before the level 3 cos the level 3 will kick your ***- a lot of the work will be placement baseed where you do the job in a school and someone will come and assess you to see if you are competent- tons of written work and loads of referencing to build a huge port folio-good luck if you go for it xx sorry each level usually takes one year to complete
