Friendship blooms by natural impulsion that may or may not necesssarily end up in love. But love is nothing but two souls dissolved into each other and becoming one.

To me... it's all about attraction.
Both friendship and love shares the quality of caring. When you think of a good friend, and your better half, you care about them, you want them to be happy, you want the best for them, you want to help them... etc.

Now the difference with the love, is you WANT the person. That's attraction. When you think about a friend, you don't feel that gut level attraction that sparks butterflies and daydreams. But when you think about the girl/man of your dreams, you feel something near your heart moving, flowing, almost hurting you. The harder that feeling is, the more it hurts, the closer you are to love and the farther you are from friendship =)

do you mean the difference between friendship and sex?

IMO, there is no difference between friendship and love, assuming they are both about good will, caring, honesty, warmth, humor, etc. i suppose it's possible to do 'sex' without any of the above but then that wouldn't be much a 'friendship' IMO.
