Shift jobs also may imply "graveyard shift" i.e. from midnight to eight A.M. (someone hat to cover those shifts at the hospital, the fire station, the police station etc.). Physically it is very demanding. Studies indicate that people who work nights sleep fewer hours than normal. Therefore, fatigue accumulates after a while, leading to burn-outs and other complications (to say nothing about what it does to your social/family life. Shift work is not easy.

Been working swing shift almost 10 years. Its cool b/c im a night person.
Downside is when I get off, regular businesses are closed.

Shift basis job is cute. Problem is when fulks are going to work you will be coming back. You may not have playmates. It could be tiring.
