Yes they do. Infact it's very important that a woman adds some vitamin supplements after the age of 35. As we grow older, we need nore calcium (for bones)vitamin C and Vitamin E (for our skin)

Our soil is so depleted that vitamins and minerals are essential these days. But don't take a multi. Get the book "Prescription for Healing" by (I think) Balch, and educate yourself. They have a good basic starting dose of everything and list the toxicity and deficiency symptoms of each nutrient. You need omega 3 too. And an antioxidant is a good move too. Chinese herbs are wonderful and I wouldn't give those up for anything. Check out patent remedies on line or see a good chinese doctor, those people really know how to HEAL, and PREVENT, not just deal with symptoms.

Re: the guy below me here -- vitamins are not drugs. And they certainly aren't poisons. They are nutrients. The stuff in prescription bottles are drugs. People from other countries come here and say our food has nottaste, because the soil is so depleted. You cannot get what you need from food.

Are multivitamins helpful or harmful?

Depends on whether or not your diet contains enough food and variety to supply all the nutrients your body needs.

If you eat more than 1600 calories and a variety of food, you may be wasting your money and making some very expensive urine. Though, taking one multivitamin per day that has 100% of the Recommended Dietary Allowances for vitamins and minerals will not hurt you.

If you are consuming less than 1600 calories per day, you are not getting all the vitamins and minerals you need. In that case, I would suggest you take a multivitamin that has 100% of the RDA for all vitamins and minerals.

Please check with your doc

yes but in the proper doses. Dont take an over doses even if its of vitamins to avoid the over loading of the vits in the liver and other complications.another thing the best is to take the natural forms by eating a complete diet because vitamin toxicity will never occur unless u use tablets of vitamins.& u'd better consult your physician.

As far as possible avoid vitamins synthetically. Eat fresh fruits, cooked vegetables in plenty which contains natural vitamins. Daily taking vitamins is like walking daily with the help of stick. Milk is a good substitute.

a million)Did u propose 'healthful individual'? A healthful individual doesn't favor any diet supplementations provided he/she eats a balanced food regimen (with a strong mixture of kinds of vegetables - eco-friendly leafy, nuts, pulses & legumes, end result, etc) and receives adequate sunshine. see you later as one isn't picky between vegetables, an animal food regimen isn't needed too. 2) An risky individual or a affected individual would favor supplementations relying on what their ailment is. fantastically, those with diabetes, malaabsorption, etc would favor multivitamins. 3)Aspirin isn't a diet yet on a daily basis low dose aspirin is idea to help diabetics (and those with previous heart attack, ischemic stroke, etc) by using reducing probabilities of adverse cardiac activities like heart assaults. 4) As you've diabetes, you could take fish oil pills and a multivitamin+mineral tab thousands of which are available interior the market; subsequently type and dose are puzzling to assert. it doesn't count a lot see you later as you do not take an overdose.
