if you had an accident or played sports when younger, it is not too young. I just had an operation on 2 discs in my neck, fusions, and I am 53, but it all started when I was in a car accident 25 years ago according to what the doctor said. I also have ddd. It does not mean you are getting old, it means the bones there have degenerated for some reason, not always age. I wish you the best. I had the surgery 8 weeks ago, and it is like night and day, I am so much better now.

35-40 is the most common age to have disc degeneration. But there is nothing much to be worry about. Only one thing keep in your mind surgery is the last option for the treatment, try physiotherapy it will help you alot. dont depend on pain killers

At your age it is usually indicative of a genetic disposition. Have you talked with anyone else in your family to see if this has been a problem.
