God said "thou shall not kill" and "thou shall not lie with thy brother as thou would with a woman." Why don't we listen to Him? Why don't we follow the laws given to us by the ONLY one who has the power to grant us or deny us entrance into His holy kingdom for eternity? Why don't we listen and obey? WHY???????????????

Because liberals know the Bible better than you do.

Much better. I'm not a liberal and I'm still saying this.

It is YOU who are not listening and obeying. The Messiah said, "render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar, and unto God the things that are God's." This means more than pay your taxes (with Caesar's coins) and go to church.

It means government and religion are two different things. It was the CHURCH which demanded independence of the STATE after the King murdered the head of the church (in England, in 1183). That's where the Magna Carta comes from, separating church from state and limiting the state's power.

Limiting the state's power. The greatest accomplishment of Christianity.

The state does NOT have the authority to demand that a woman carry a parasite to term as a child. Parasites must not have rights -- never. Not ever. The state does not have the authority to demand that gay people hide and cower, instead they have the authority "peacably to assemble." They want to live together and leave their property to each other? Odd, but I don't want YOU to misuse the government to FORBID IT because it offends your own religious biases.

For nine hundred years, the poeple who want church and state united have fought those who want them separate. We've won every time, and we'll win this one.

May God have mercy on you for wanting to use my pokey secular government as an axe to create your bigotted paradise. That's never going to happen.

First of all, liberals don't care what God said. So quoting him will never get you anywhere in a debate with them.

Now, liberals only care about the lives who can vote for them, not the unborn lives.

They also don't care that the definition of marriage is between a man and a woman. They want to change the definition as not to 'offend' someone. The fact is, one does not have more, or less rights if they are gay or straight. A gay person can marry someone of the opposite sex, and a straight person can not marry someone of the same sex.

I have no problem with the union between a gay couple. I do have a problem with 'marriage' between the two. I do not want to set a precedent for someone to marry anyone or anything they want. I don't want someone saying they should be allowed to marry a 3 year old. After all, you don't have to be sexually active to get married. I also do not want somone to argue that they have the right to marry a goat.

I would like to in turn ask you why "conservatives" have chosen not to listen to the "shalt NOT kill" portion of the Bible, or is it excused if the people you are killing (and by this I mean the innocent bystanders of our wars) have something valuable on the lands they occupy? Did you know the Bible also says not to touch a woman while she is menstruating? Or that having slaves is OK? Or that eating shellfish is a no-no? If anyone is going to use the Bible as a guideline for living I find it hard to take them seriously unless they follow every suggested rule or way of living themselves, make sense at all?

This god of yours that declares 'thou shall not kill' is a hypocrite. The bible is also full of incidents where god has killed or ordered to be killed men, women, children. So I guess it should read 'thou shall not kill unless I think it is necessary". Your holier than thou attitude about other peoples lives and other peoples bodies is not in any way justified by your reference to biblical law. The bible, a book written by men, for use to control men, there never was any thing devine about it.

Most I know are agnostic. Frankly I can't see why anyone would think late term abortion is ok. The baby is born but just before the baby leaves the mothers body the doctor puree's the babies brains (thus the baby wasn't born). It's absolutely horrible. All this because the couple was irresponsible and neglected to take precautions. What's wrong with adoption?

There are 2 separate issues here. In secular law, most constitutions forbid discrimination on ANY grounds including sexual orientation, and this tendency is likely to continue. If we allow legal discrimination on basis of sexual orientation, where do we draw the line? Where do we stop? The church however is not a democracy and the bible is clear, as you point out, on abortion and homosexuality. In my opinion, the church must not recognise gay marriages and homosexuality, but it cannot not stop secular governments from doing so

EXACTLY, not everyone believes in the same beliefs as you do. That was the key feature to this country - freedom of religion. It is unfair to make a law illegal because of religious beliefs.

Gay marriage is the business of those who participate in it. Why must we judge them for who they have relations with?

Scientifically speaking, it's not even a fetus during the three months of pregnancy. It is not even life. It's stopping a process, basically.

Because not everyone believes in God... and those who do may not believe in the same things that you do. You need to go out there and meet people who think differently than you do and gain some perspective.

I believe, although I'm not positive, that St. Thomas Aquinas said, "If you mingle the Kingdom of man with the Kingdom of God you'll poison the Kingdom of God." That about sums it up...

Abortion: I can't tell a woman what to do with her own pregnancy.

Same-sex marriage: I don't care if the same sex gets married. I have bigger things to worry about.

The Bible says nothing bad about abortion, but it does say all gays should be killed. Yikes!
