God to me is an evolutionary adaptation that helps humans deal with problematic situations. As with every thing we experience, the emotions associated with God come from the brain. There are cases known in neurology in which ministers, rabbis, priests, etc., have suffered strokes in a particular region of the brain and have left their religion. There have also been cases in which neurosurgeons have stimulated brain regions and the patients have had intense religious experiences, even so far as to see Jesus hanging on the cross. One can imagine that it would be selectively advantageous to evolve a spiritual or "God" mechanism in the brain. However, unlike evolutionary biology, evolutionary psychology deviates from the strict mandates of the scientific method in that it cannot be scientifically studied. A lot of times in evolutionary psychology they refine the art of story telling without giving objective, scientific evidence to completely support their theories.

To me, God is something I want to see but can't.

It's the consequence of my desire to be a part of something grander, to consider myself more than a tainted sack of fluids on a small blue sphere orbiting a burning ball of hydrogen and helium.

I want to believe that I have a purpose, that I am something special, that what I consider ethically right is more than just part of my upbringing. I want to know how precious and rare and unique we all are -- each and every one of us.

But I can't believe this. There's too many contradictions for me to ever believe that there is some all powerful being in charge.

So that's what God is to me. An idea. An impossible idea that I would love to believe. My life would be happier if I could believe. But I can't.

Study biblical texts; Creator; Hawking's time theory...no beginning, no end....Alpha-Omega. Answers to life's questions are already given, even before we asked them. Just gotta find 'em. Comment about brain region stimulation - God told us in the Bible that man has an empty place "in his heart" that cannot be filled by anything else, just Him; that is what causes each of ask, at some point in our lives, to ask what you are asking now; it is His way of pointing us to his Word, to seek the answers we ask; answers to questions He already knew we would ask. Time is irrelevant to God. No beginning, no end; a day is as a thousand generations; our time on earth is less than a nanosecond in His realm. These physical bodies are nothing more than vessels we use for our souls to learn the lessons we are to learn; to come closer to perfection and cleanliness. God is perfect and clean; He cannot allow that which is imperfect and unclean to return to Him; but He has determined that mankind will have end, and each of us, from the time of man's dawn to the last birth, will have the opportunity for perfection and forgiveness of sin, which is what makes us imperfect and unclean; thru the blood of Jesus Christ.

I could go on for days, but simplest....read the Scriptures, study them. Its more than a one-time thing; study and research the things it says against known science. You'd be pretty amazed at what He said about this time over 3,000 years ago.

God is my father. He loves his kids.. God is my everything..

However please don`t confuse Religion with God. Religion is a man-made organized *set of rules* for a church congregation..

God does not care if you are a Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Mormon or Islam.. He doesn`t care if you wear make up or not. he doesn`t care if you wear shorts, He doesn`t care if have facial hair.. He loves you and cares about what you look like on the inside..

He is your Dad and just like any Dad, he wants the best for you..

God bless & Hugs from Texas. {:-)

1) god is an ill formed answer to an ill posed question that motivates people to do things and make decisions that have nothing to do with reality or objectivity.
2) god is a word that groups say that motivates the sane to run like hell

God is everything. The Alpha and the Omega. The Beginning and the End. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He is the Creator and our reason for being here. He is everything.

God is our Creator, the author and finisher of my faith, my Father, my Provider, all-knowing, all-seeing, ever-present. He created me for a purpose and allowed the things that have happened in my life to happen for a reason. He turns my tests into testimonies.

I figure God is man's own thing. Before Man was around to utter a name, there was no such arrangement of such vocal chords, such lips, such teeth, such tongue, etc. to even make such a sound as for the word to be spoken. Man created God, not vice versa.
