I have a Nissan Sentra '94,and It runs fine, but the problem mentioned happens at odd times, when I least expect it, but it sure is happening more often now(maybe twice a week) and when I try to start it turning the key, there's no noice( no click or anything) Also, the head lights are fine while it's happening. I've been told that it could be the ignition coil, or maybe it has something to do with one of the battery conections( could be corotion on the cable or wore out) anyone here who's a mechanic or had this problem before? Let me know what you think please.

I had a similar problem with my Honda Accord not too long ago. I managed to fix it by looking at the Honda troubleshooting page and Usenet car repair forums. With my Honda, the problem was with a computerized box under the steering column that regulated the electricity right out of the ignition, before it went to the distributor, starter, or any other part of the engine. This was apparently a very common problem for Hondas made in the late 80s through the 90s. It tends to be worse in heat (especially summer time) because it is caused by the soder in the unit getting too hot and not making a decent connection with the electrodes. This sounds like it could be consistent with what is happening to you. The part was 60 bucks and it took me about an hour and a half to replace it. No problems since then. Unfortunately, I don't know if Nissans have a similar part, or what it would be called if they did. But if they do, the design flaw is probably as common as it was with Honda, and you will probably be able to find further info on the Nissan site and any forums specifically dedicated to Nissan repair.

Hi If the connections r not right the head lights would not work. So no probs with the connection. As u have mentioned u hear no noice when u turn the keys on there is one possibility. The Salnoid switch of ur car must have been struck up. If u know the Stater motor in ur car just give it a mild tap with a spanner and try it out. If that doesnt work take it to a good mechanic n get it changed. Kay

If it's not the ignition coil or the battery, the spark plugs or fuel filter are probably at fault.

I have had Jags that showed the same symptoms because the negative cable on the battery had worked itself loose and/or practically sheared from its mounting. Fixed them and the car started fine.

There could also be a problem with your fuel system (sans filter). I'd go and have it checked by an ASE-certified Nissan technician. If it's a fuel delivery problem, you'll want to get it fixed right away.

this might help you. sounds like our starter is going out. had this problem with my 94 nissan truck. take it to a shop because with the new starter i got a new relay also for a fix that nissan had a problem with then. the starter is easy to change but the relay gets a lot of new wiring. the reason why is the lack of voltage getting to the starter solenoid. it takes about 4 hours to do the job. but dont take my word i cant look at it and Lessen to it. take it to a shop so the can diagnose it. it could be something else.

If there is no click from the starter then it is either bad battery connections, a bad selonoid / starter or other wiring. Gas, tuneups or coil will have nothing to do with this.

some fords have a gas close off it quite is meant to set off in a rollover. I actually have prevalent human beings to have issues of this protection function after minor injuries. the actual undeniable actuality that jacking up one fringe of the vehicle fixes it, or not having the difficulty on flat surfaces makes this sound like a symptom. bypass to an automobile aspects shop like Autozone, they are frequently very powerful and the persons who artwork there are frequently reading to be mechanics. someone may fix it for you as a edge pastime.

I would bet that there is a bad spot on your starter. A local mechanic shop can confirm that for you. Most auto Parts stores have a tester for that also, but you will have to remove it from the car to get it tested by them.

Try switching to premium gas for a few weeks (unfortunatly it's super expensive right now) - it could be just the lower grade gas.

For me it was a loose and dirty battery cable, once we cleaned them and reconnected them it was fine and has been ever since.
