It would create employment because workers would be needed for tour guides, custodians, public relations, advertising and marketing, food preparation and restaurant services, souvenir clerks, maintenance on buildings and displays, public transportation, parking attendants, hotel personnel, to mention just a few areas. (I am sure you can think of even more types of jobs that would be created through the building of attractions and places that are built around them).

Tourism would earn foreign exchange for the country as many tourists come from other countries, and if they are doing the things mentioned in the prior paragraph, they are contributing to the tourism trade by spending their money!

how tourism will cater to two major needs:

create employment for the unemployed: OK, think about the jobs that will be created; what types of jobs and who will be filling them.

and earn foreign exchange for the country: Then consider who will be touring and how they will be spending their money while in the country.

Those are the two keys, now the rest is up to you... put your thinking cap on. Good luck

Read Adam Smith, "The Wealth of Nations," or dwelve into Wikipedia on the same topic.

Also, employment helps with a nation's productivity, which helps maintain economic growth and the GDP.

Earning foriegn exchange helps even out trade imbalances, since countries with the stronger currency (tourists) will spend more in a country with the weaker currency (the employed worker in the tourist industry).

Easy. 1st major need - EMPLOYMENT - hotels and attractions. if you need an example use Disneyland look how many people are employed there. And hotel staffing and upkeep and bus drivers to cart people around.

2nd major need - FOREIGN CURRENCY - ties right into the 1st. Just spin off of the 1st topic about how tourists buy trinkets and pay for services like transportation, lodging, meals and other things.

Consider yourself lucky, you can B.S. this topic easily and I would site some attractions like maybe some U.S. attractions like I said Disneyland or /World or Sea World or Six Flags and then mix it up w/maybe Jamaica's beaches or Bahamas and then don't forget S. America or maybe England and France or the Himalayas in Asia...... U will figure it out.

I would think that a great way to get the fire going is finding out how the Bali bombing a couple of years ago and the Tsunami in Indonesia just DEVASTATED the tourist industry of those countries.

Those people DEPEND on the tourism industry, big time.

You can then compare that to thriving tourist industry now in Bali and in other, otherwise dirt poor countries.

Tourism, particularly Eco-tourism, gives locals an opportunity to share their knowledge, culture, art and history with tourists.

By selling local crafts, excursions, food and hospitality the locals gain foreign exchange.

Of course, this means that their way of life may be altered greatly or even destroyed.

However, starvation and poverty will greatly alter, or even destroy, the local population.

Correct decisions must be made according to the needs of the local communities.

Good luck, my dear; this is a very difficult question and your article must be thoroughly and thoughtfully considered.

Tourism creates jobs in hotels, restaurants, casinos, and the tourist attraction, hence helping the unemployed. It creates an attraction for international sight-seers, hence helping international commerce and exchange.

Write the article about Cuba. Tourism has enabled many to find work there, and is helping Cuba economically on the international stage despite U.S. sanctions.
