There are many reasons to use a tableless design and all to your advantage. Tables should only be used for structuring tabular data, not for the visual layout of the web page. By utilizing a Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), each element is a container which can be styled and positioned correctly.

By using the CSS as an external stylesheet, it is far easier and quicker to edit one file for formatting than it is to edit each web page separately. There are also other considerations such as the visual presentation with non-PC devices such as PDA's, mobile devices, screen readers for people with visual disabilities, not to mention the rendering in the various browsers.

Divs are much more versatile, especially using CSS. Tables were made for displaying databases, not for layout.

Start using divs and css and you will start seeing the advantages immediately.
