I have never "reported" anybody. Because I am a "tolerant" person. I'm not a crying little baby that has to tell "Daddy" that my wimpy feelings got hurt.

I have enough faith in my own intellect that I don't pee in my panties when somebody disagrees with me.

The word was "counterproductive".

Yes, very!
Sometimes, like it's not already childish enough, they let you know in ways like this:
R E P O R T E D
or
You have been REPORTED
LMFAO!

There is a difference between reporting people because they disagree with you are reporting them because the are vulgar or obscene. There are children that use this site and some of the things on here are not something that I would want to see when I was a child.

So no...There is a time and a place to report someone

It is not about disagreeing or being tolerant. It is about preserving the integrity and intended purpose of a public forum. Teenagers and kids are using Yahoo Answers. They don't need to read some of the crap that people post. Some people accept things that they shouldn't under the guise of being tolerant. If you stand for nothing, then you will fall for anything.

Every social setting has rules, limitations and codes of conduct; and society works best when all follow the rules, limitations and codes of conduct. You wouldn't be too impressed with your business colleagues if they came to work sloppy, smelly and scratching their sacs every twenty minutes or so, would you?
and why do you assume that being reported, or reporting someone, is childish and immature? mature people should respect the levels of maturity of others.

I report the offensive ones. There are people that give counterproductive answers and they deserve to be reported.

I think some people are trying to keep the youngest participants from being exposed to some of the less than stellar content here. And I seem to recall that we all agreed to the Community Guidelines when we joined, no?

It depends what needs to be reported. If someone is breaking the law, the right thing to do is report it. Other than that, I say leave it alone and walk away.

I only reported one person..and it was because she didnt like my answer to her question..and emailed me privately with venom and insults..TWICE!!
I thought that if she doesnt want responses to her questions that are not underwritten BY her..she should go and find another forum to expound her inanity

Some dont simply ask questions here..some actually use this as a bully Pulpit to voice hatred and anger..and they should be called to task..EVERY TIME!!!

I don't report people whom I disagree with, or who say rotten things. I report racism, any sort of obscenity involving children.
