Do you mean why does your browser 'freeze' when attempting to enter a chat room? Several possibilities ... are you using a current version of your browser? Is Java scripting enabled in the browser configurations? Do you have the most current Java script program installed? Does this occur with any other Java script intensive web sites? What operating system is installed on your computer? Those are software issues.
Does your computer's monitor seem to move more slowly when you have many windows opened? Do graphic intensive games appear to move slowly on your monitor? Are you using an on the motherboard video chip? How much RAM is installed on your motherboard? Are you using a video card? How much memory is on the video card? Hardware issues.
Your problem might be browser related due to not being updated, or not having Java scripting activated, or something to do with the operating system. If not a software issue, you may have a hardware issue. Video chip on the motherboard uses some of your RAM. If not enough RAM is left for other operations on your computer to perform at optimal standards, things that you see on the monitor will slow down, maybe freeze up. Are you using a video card that comes with video RAM or VRAM?
Java script chat rooms are memory pigs. If your computer lacks sufficient memory and/or your Java script is not up to date, you will likely have problems.
Not enough information is provided with the question to properly give a sufficient answer.

Maybe no one likes you, and they really don't have the heart to tell you. Take it as a sign and find another chat room. If it still doesn't work, open your front door, walk out...find a real person, and speak at it. Stuff will happen...believe-you-me.

Probably because you either have an old copy of java or do not have java loaded. Go to www.java.com and download that latest version.
If the problem is with an Instant Messenger Chat uninstall it and reload it from its source.
