Here's the "real" question: Why don't people put anywhere near as much energy into finding their own talent or passion instead of worrying about keeping up with the Jones'? The biggest problem that everyone faces is understanding there's more wonderful things in life other than what everybody else thinks of you,or in other words, how you are judged or "accepted"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do yourself a favor everyone and be the individual you that's in there somewhere, you may surprise yourself, and I guarantee you'll be a better person if you make yourself happy by exploring all the little gifts in life you take for granted. Have you thought of what it would be like to be blind or paralyzed? Or struck down with a life threatening disease like me? Life is too precious to waste on petty things like jealousy. You should be happy for people when they are doing something they love but don't forget to look at the small details in your own life, you may be overlooking something amazing!

I haven't found people to be so much jealous as opportunistic in taking you down. Maybe that's due to jealousy, I don't know. I worked with a group of young reporters once. They were a lazy bunch, and I could work circles around them. My writing had won awards and they seemed little motivated to write the least well. I was ostensibly their boss; I had direction for them without the power to back it up. To end a long story, they connived through deceit to undermine me, and I eventually lost my job. It was as if they resented my talent because they didn't have much--I guess that's jealousy.

The answer is obvious, that you have talent and they don't. While some people are nice and are happy for you, there are others who cannot accept this fact and hate that you don't need to work as hard to be good in something.

Don´t bother with jealous people. Focus your energy on developing your talent instead. People might be jealous or just generally sceptic. If other people did not question things around them the same way they might embrace things around them we would have a world without debate and thus a world with less development. It is human nature to want to develop skills, change situations, debate and discuss.

It is a human nature that if some one has a quality / thing that I do not have, the jealousy creeps in.There are some people who really appreciate sincerely the talent others have , but, they are minuscule.
One need not care for others jealousy, but should be careful, lest they try to harm in one or the other way.

I vaguely remember a movie I think it was "Wolfgang-Amadeus" ... about Mozart's competitive buddy who was jealous over Mozart's natural talent ... This guy practiced and spent every waking hour trying to achieve quality music compositions while he believed Mozart squandered his talents on women and booze ...
I guess if my desire was so intense to achieve something, and I saw someone do with with no effort, I too would probably be jealous.

Dont we put the talented birds in a cage!
because they can fly and we cant!
the ones who are not jealous of the talented, have at least something they are superior.
the rest is just filled with hate!
Talent is a mirror that shows your ugly face!
thats why you hate it!

Society tends to put a higher value on those persons that clearly excel in some aspect. Those who do not receive this attention respond with resentment out of lack of understanding of their own special talents.

because of competition some people are afraid that they will lose their position if someone better comes along or they want the limelight without haveing to do the work and putting forth the effort to develop your talents

People usually tend to get jealous when someone has something they wish they had and all the glory that comes with it (example: talent).
