Asian languages are hard to translate. I know cause I'm Viet. Some words have different meanings, and there's way to translate sentences correctly without losing the meaning.
My cousin is crazy for manga, by the way, and she also watches anime. She always complains that the voices don't fit the characters, but that's because she's seen the real version and has an idea of what their voice really sounds like. That makes her biased, I guess.

Anything dubbed in English sucks. It's one of my pet peeves, and I'm glad you brought it up. When I watch a movie, I want to see and hear what was supposed to be there -- not some squeaky voice screwing the whole thing up. Dubbing is for retards who can't read subtitles fast enough.

Because they have a habit of changing the storyline and translating things wrong in turn ruining the story. There is also only a small handfull of voice actors and they all suck for the most part and are emotionless and have no clue what they are doing.
Japanese w/ sub is the way to go!

The same reason a book translated into a different language sucks... some of the magic is lost in the translation.

I don't know I kind of like them. Although, I also like the old Chinese movies that are English dubbed and the mouths don't match the words. That part tickles me pink!

i live in mexico and i tell u, they dub almost everything, and every time it sux, original languages on cartoons and movies and everything is much much better
