Wanting a specific answer for an ambiguous question ... Is your question: "What will a service technician charge for rebooting my computer?" Price for a service call to your home will vary on the region you live in and the distance the technician travels from his/her shop. You may very well be expected to pay a fee from $25 - $50 (typically too low) to $100 - $200 (average) and more if you are a corporate customer. You are not paying to have your computer re-booted, though. You are paying for the service call, the diagnosis, and the solution to what ever you called the service technician to solve and/or repair. Too often, the problem that the technician has been summoned to repair is a simple fix, that the customer (with more knowledge) could have performed themself. The technician doesn't do charity work, so you have to pay for the service (call).

I have never heard of a "someone" service technician having an itemized list for rebooting a computer, or other menial types of repair. Keep in mind that the technician has most probably spent at least $32,000 to learn how to diagnose and solve computer hardware and software OS problems. Some service technicians may demand more for a service call than others (dependant on their experience, training, and region or all of those factors). You need to ask what their service call price is and are there any additional charges, before they come to your location (again, presuming your home).

Rebooting is a software function of your particular OS (operating system) or hardware. There is a correct way to reboot and a last resort way to reboot. The correct way to reboot is through the OS, also known as a soft reboot. The software will shut down the hardware after information stored in memory has been saved to the hard drive (answer for the non-techies), then reboot (restart) the computer automatically. If your computer seems to freeze, that is it is not shutting down as it normally shuts down, nothing appears to be happening, then you may have to perform a hard reboot. A hard reboot is removing the power from the computer and reconnecting power to the computer. In other words, pressing the on off switch to turn off the power. Some computer boxes still have an actual reboot switch that permits a power loss to the computer, but the OS will restart when the power resumes. Most computers now have an on/off switch; press it in and hold for 3 - 5 seconds and the power ceases. Pressing the switch again and the power comes on, the computer proceeds through POST (power on self test), then the OS (operating system) takes over.

Other people have given a helpful answer that has nothing to do with rebooting, rather their answers pertain to re-installation of the OS, or restoring a corrupted OS back to the way it was operating correctly before.

BTW, what did the service technician charge to solve your problem? I hope that I have answered that question that you meant to ask. :)

you can do it yourself, i used to give to a computer store to do mine until my friend told me how to reboot it. You just need the back up CD of the computer. The way i do it is that I insert in the Cd tray and then shut down the computer. I then switch open the computer and hold down the "C" button for like 15 seconds then i let go and then the reboot menu would come up. From there the steps are easy. Dont know if your computer would follow the same steps as mine. Mine is a toshiba.

what do you mean by reboot? you can reboot it yourself for free. If you mean for someone to make a back up, format your hard drive and reinstall all your stuff again, well it depends where you live and how much stuff you have, but I wouldn't pay over $150.

You could easily learn to do it yourself if you have the time, there must be a million tutorials for this online.

You can reboot the computer, that is turning it on and off.
If you mean that they need to reinstall the software on it then it depends on who you get.
If you read the help guide and print it for that area, you should be able to redo it yourself.
If you have any problems, I'd be glad to help you providing you have all the right CD's and etc to take it back to factory settings.
