Are you looking for more money? More experience? More interesting work? More enlightening work? More challenging? What makes another job better? You don't need an excuse, most bosses will understand and if you say something like you aren't challenged, they may offer a better position or additional duties. Bosses like it when you ask for a challenge, they respect people who work hard and need more of a challenge. Talk with your boss before you quit about why you want to quit (without telling them you want to quit). Maybe they can do something to make the job you already have "better." Good luck!

Just tell the truth. Maybe your boss can help you get a better job in the company you work for. You never know until you ask. If you don't want to tell them the reason, just say it's for personal reasons and they cannot ask you anything else about it.

You have no obligation to give him a reason. Write a nice letter of resignation, giving 2 weeks notice, and say you enjoyed your time there and learned a lot to prepare you in life, blah blah blah. You do not have to say why--find out if you're in a right-to-work state. That means that you or your employer can terminate the relationship at any point for any reason that's not discrimination.

The truth is a good start, if your new job provides more money, benefits, better hours, more growth potential, or whatever just tell them that. They will appreciate your honesty, and respect your decision to better yourself. What you say is not as important as giving a notice, but you don't want to say anything negative about them because you never know if you might need to back track. don't burn any bridges.

you can tell your boss the truth: I have accepted another position; beyond that you don't have to explain, although you can say things like "the hours will work better for me" or "it's closer to what I want to major in at college" or something similar.
be sure to tell your boss how much you've appreciated working for them and/or how much you've learned while working for them etc. and always give them at least 2 weeks notice, this will help you get a good reference from them. be polite even if (especially if!) they have not treated you well, rudeness has a nasty way of coming back to bite you.
best wishes,

The best answer, (if you don't have a real one), is that you are going to pursue other opportunities or options. That is the most common reason that people give. Your boss does not need to know more than that.

Well first thing you do is ...Do Not quit your job until you have found another and then when you find another you give your present job a 2 week notice....That is the way it is done and hey you don't have to make up an excuse

Just explain that a better opportunity came up and that you have to do what you feel is right for you. If possible, give him at least two weeks notice to replace you.
