I've been off Novum 777 since May 20, 2006. I did not have a period in June and still waiting to have one in July. I've been light headed and I almost passed out at work last week. I also have mild cramping off and on during the day. Any suggestions?

It is possible that the light headedness and mild cramping have nothing to do with each other. Dehydration and low blood sugar can cause the dizziness and whatnot.

But since you haven't been on this new prescription very long and you are having cramping as well as the light-headedness, call your doctor. Many offices now have an "on call advice nurse" who can tell you whether or not you need to make an appointment. With medications, better safe than sorry.

There are too many possible causes of your "amenorrhea" to list here. Suffice it to say that there are many benign reasons why you may not have had your period yet, and a FEW bad things. The most important thing is to see your physician to make sure you are not pregnant. Otherwise, a simple history (how long have you been on the pill, were your periods normal PRIOR to starting the pill, etc), physical, and some lab work will likely easily answer the question.

My suggestion is to make an appointment on Monday and get into the doctor that perscribed that medication ASAP. If things get worse over the weekend then head to the closest ER.

Have your blood pressure check maybe it's low, or you need to check with your doctor, some people who are light headed have low hemoglobin in their blood, hemoglobin is the oxygen capacity in our blood which give us energy. But just try to observe for a while, it might go away. ..or did you get a good rest? It could be the cause too.
