I'm a 45 yr old male who's had E.D. since my mid 20's.
Haven't had a erection hard enough to allow penertation or orgasm in four years. Am not diabetic. My GP has proclaimed me healthly other than 30 lbs overweight. Have never ever smoked or used drugs. Seldom drink. Have tried Viagra a dozen times. Used Cialis and Levitra appox half a dozen times each, all to no effect. Urulogist has decreed implants as the only solution, something I can't afford if they were half their price! Engaged three times in 20 years but each lady walked out over this major sexual issue. Their oral attempts failed. Now what? Can't get hard enough to masturbate! All I want is an orgasm. Four yrs and counting. I'm gonna go over the mental abyss soon.....

Thanks for taking a clearly sizable amount of your time to reply to my question.
More data: my drug consumtion is limited to Lipitor. Several women have informed me that my talents at cunnilingus were the best they had run across. Judging by their flushed skin, gasps for breath, they weren't trying to just soothe my ego. Yet none stuck 'round because of the lack of peneration(sp?). "Orgasm is possible without an erection"...? Tell me where I can see video proof of this, porn or otherwise.
Thanks.

Almost 50% of males under age 40 with e.d. are psychosomatic.
You should be able to orgasm and ejaculate withOUT an erection of any sort, (_by self-stimulation_, but not intercourse). Most males with e.d. can.
If you are near a large city get to a sexual dysfunction clinic. You need a complete workup. Viagra, cialis, and levitra all are related drugs and work through the same chemical mechanism. (nitric oxide production). If one does not work, often all 3 will not work. The failure rate of viagra is 40%. (I suspect that the other 2 have the same % non-function).
You have not mentioned caverject. Look into that.
More women orgasm through clitoral stimulation than vaginal stimulation. Some women have never experienced vaginal orgasm but can get there via clitoral masturbation readily. (& for many ladies, within minutes after initiation.)
Consider heavy foreplay and also cunnilingus for your partners.
Women crave relationships, intimacy, romance, and stimulation far more than penetration. will .Try some of that, & they may not run away, despite e.d.
Many motivated mature women can forgo intercourse, it takes time to identify them. But other measures should make that search unecessary. Also, you should consider caverject and its analogs. (that procedure sounds painful but it usually is not).
Prosthesis's are usually indicated for men who only have a moderate sex life, not very sexually active mature males..Caverject should be considered first.
Performance anxiety, and/or psychological problems (e.g. religion generated hang-ups), is a huge problem. It can kill an erection long before it ever gets started.
Hypnosis can sometimes work for that problem and its effect on sexual performance.
Sometimes the benzodiazapine family of tranquilizers can work, (e.g. valium, atavan, librium, diazepam, oxazepam, diclofenac etc. etc.), but often they don't or must be used in combination with other measures.
Has your doctor measured sleeping penile turgor pressure? That should be done.
Males, who physically can have erections, have several involuntary erections throughout the night, and usually not, at the time they wake up. Testosterone, and the active form of testosterone levels, should be determined. Inadequate serum levels can cause real problems. Men can have alol the masculine attributes in abundance and be low on the hormone. That test is, in my opinion, a must. (I forget the medical term for the latter avcailable form of testosterone) because it's more important then the level of straight testosterone). Lack of enough of that hormone can cause all sorts of problems in males and post-menopausal females. This is specially indicated because you mentioned that you cannot ejaculate nor have orgasms. (those symptoms are additional problems and not typically those of e.d.)
Also, the state of your vascular system should be thoroughly checked.
Excessive weight can make e.d. worse I suggest that you lose it as soon as you can. (it may also stop a progression to type 2 (late onset), diabetes.)
Changing diet to reduce triglyceride (fat), blood levels and cholesterol blood levels is also important.
Regular exercise, including walking will help when combined with other measures.
Consider consulting a professional, (physiotherapist?, Chinese traditional doctor?, etc.) that knows how to increase blood flow to the crural region. (they use massage, special exercises etc. etc.) That treatment step often helps together with the other measures.
Many different medications prevent erectile capability. e.g. blood pressure, and antidepressent medications & dozens more. Some of your medications may be exacerbating your problem.
Get another medical opinion, preferably from a doctor that specialises and does research in erectile dysfunction. (this is important, there are many mediocre doctors around. (I have seen medical cock-ups by these worthies on many occasions. Good medical ethical standards of conduct prevent me from strangling a few of them.)
My cousin consulted 3 urologists until he found a professional that specialised in that condition and who really knew what to do, and got results. The first "doctor" handed him viagara and showed him the door. The mere title urologist does not necessarily make that person an expert in e.d. He may only be pushing pills.
Go for it, you have only, just scratched the surface of the facets of e.d.
Also, millions of men have the problem, no need to feel self-conscious about it.
p.s. Lipitor (a.k.a. Atorvastatin) Frost, their drug write up does not indicate e.d. as a side effect. (C.P.S.), check their website for the drug's monograph.

Came here for this very reason!
You've got my empathy! I've got the same prob. But I demanded testosterone injection therapy, plus I get OTC, the supplement DHEA(makes the testosterone work better somehow). Now, I have begun having AM erections....not substantial,no climax, but it's a beginning.
Dr. can't figure it out. I'm diabetic (35 yrs) and the problem really got bad after an accident 5 yrs ago. Drs blamed the diabetes, the nerve damage and recommended the implant option. There's actually a download of the implant operation, but after watching it.....I dunno.
I for sure don't recommend going to a mental health prof. They'll just make you crazier.
If you were in the military, the VA will usually help.
Talk to your dr about the testosterone therapy....it'll help your anguish as well. Let me know what happens, huh?

Many men suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED) -- the inability to achieve and sustain an erection long enough to have enjoyable and fulfilling sex. For a variety of reasons ED is most common in men over 45. The sex drive is often lowered even further in older men who are taking medications of various kinds.
Most of us assume the sex drive gradually diminishes as we get older, so we are prepared to accept ED as a natural condition. But the fact is, the inability for many men to sustain an erection may be more the result of treatable physical conditions rather than an actual loss of sex drive.
Until the early 1980s most people -- including most trained urologists -- assumed that ED was basically a mental or psychological problem. But in 1983 at a presentation to the American Urological Association, Dr. Gilbert M demonstrated that a penis could be made erect by injecting it with the drug cialis. In a public demonstration, he used his own penis to make the point.
Gil had discovered that the penis could be made erect by relaxing the normally constricted blood vessels leading into it. Once the blood vessels are relaxed, they let in more blood and the penis inflates something like a balloon to form an erection.

I used to be in the penile implant industry. In you have something physical based on your question and partial history. I think your best bet would be to have an penile prosthesis implanted. I have been in the O.R. many times and the guy has an erection right after the surgery is completed, and they go on to have satisfying sex lives.

You can try an herbal supplement like "Horny Goat Weed", it helps increase circulation but that's also what the meds you've tried do. If implants were recommended you can try and save up for it or talk to your doctor about insurance covering it if it's affecting your mental health. You may have to see a psychologist to confirm it though.

Check your blood work for problems such at diabetes, cholesterol, etc. Also, try exercising on a regular basis, this will definitely help blood flow if done consistently over time.
