its a fungus, it causes cracking and itching between your toes, painful and miserable but easily cured, you usually get it if you wear shoes all the time. like boots and often have wet feet, or if you are into sports a lot, and your feet sweat a great deal, other than meds , wash a lot, keep your feet dry, stay barefoot at home.

It's a fungal growth usually inbetween your toes. It's not like a mushroom pops up or anything, it's just fungus growing on your skin. How would it grow? Well your feet sweet from being inside of a sock inside of a shoe all day, and if you dont take your foot out and let it air out stuff starts to grow. Fungus thrive in dark, moist, warm areas (think about the inside of your shoe with your foot in it for extended period's of time)
So, just keep your feet clean and dry and you shouldnt have a problem.
