I have a speech class coming up in couple of months and I get so nervous standing up in front of the class. I forget everything I have to say once I get up there to speak. Any answer out there or techniques?

I do a lot of speaking and such for Model United nations... sometimes I'd have to speak in front of a few hundred people. I had the SAME problem with that. I'd get shaking and my voice would be fast and nervous... I got better at it though. Try carrying small notecards with just a keyword that might trigger a segment in your head (i.e. if you're talking about dogs, you might write feeding, playing, training) stuff like that. As far as being in front of people goes, I usually get a few friends to sit on different sides of the room and try to give the speech as if I were talking to them about the subject at hand. It makes you sound more personable and usually, it'll even make you smile a little. It allows your eyes to move around the room too. If you're friends with everyone in the class, sometimes if helps to think of it like you were talking to each of them individually... which is a lot less worrysome than a big group.

Hope it helps! Good luck!

You really need to know what you are talking about inside and out. Practice, practice and practice in front of a mirror or a friend. That way you don't have to use your notes and when they ask you a question, you know what the answer is without looking at your notes. If you don't know the answer, then say that you don't know. Look above the heads of the people you are going to talk or pick out 2 people on different sides of the room and look at them like they are the only ones you are talking to. The main thing is to know what the hell you are talking about and try to communicate that to your audience
