Have your physician take your blood pressure. But remember that some people have doctor-induced high blood pressure (because of the anxiety involved), so it's critical that you learn to take your own blood pressure. There are a wide assortment of machines available in dept. stores. The manual ones are cheap and quite reliable, and listening for the systolic and diastolic using a stethoscope is easier than you think. The automatic machines are quite good too, the Omron brands are excellent. Someone told me all the machines no matter what brand come from the same factory anyway. You should take your blood pressure several times a day and keep a detailed record because many factors can affect blood pressure. Take your records to the doctor (and take your machine too so he can check it against his.)

The only way to know is by having your blood pressure checked by a professional. I don't trust the blood pressure machines in stores. They may not have been calibrated in ages. And remember, most people feel no physical symptoms of high blood pressure. That's why it's important to have your pressure checked by a doctor or nurse at least every 6 months.

Have a professional take your blood pressure reading. Some hospitals or local American Heart Associations will take it for free. Another poster here is absolutely correct in warning about using equipment in drug stores as they are rarely accurate. They usually have not been calibrated in forever.

Hypertension (high blood pressure) can be present with no symptoms, so it is very important to have it take routinely. It can easily be treated. Untreated it does serious damage

Best thing for high blood pressure is regular aerobic exercise. It doesn't have to be anything super strenuous, just walk 30 -60 minutes a day.

go to the doctor and they have this blood pressure machine that they put on your arm and check for you blood pressure, pulse... etc. i have one at home too and i don't like to use it cuz it squeezes my arms and it hella hurts. but if you go to the doctor and do it, he/she might b gentle cuz they noe how to use it. plus, when you go to check ups, they do it to you anyways. haven't you tried it? they weight you, they measure you, give you shots, etc. all those unnessecary things.
